So I’m kind of in a bind, so my truck has had issues for 2 months now, (2016 ram 1500 8 speed 5.7 rotary) it’s been in and out of the dealership now a lot of times. It could take miles or it could happen immediately. The transmission doesn’t feel like it’s slipping but it will shift up gears and have no power under throttle (my foot could be to the floor) until I manually shift a gear then it gains response. Then at certain times it locks itself into a random gear could be 4th or it could be 6th and it will do that even at a dead stop and won’t get out of gear until I clear the code. Plus reverse won’t work backing up a hill when the issues happen. Have yall had any of these exact issues and if so what was the solution.

I haven't had any issues but I do have questions. How many miles on it? What has the dealer said or done for you? Assuming you're still under the powertrain warranty I would be pushing them to replace the transmission if they can't narrow down the problem.

Apologies for the frustration, @Joseph Wolski. If you work with your Ram dealer again, we would be more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process. Please do not hesitate to follow up via private message with any additional questions.

I just had my 2014 Ram 1500 big horn with the Hemi and 8 speed in the shop for the 2nd time since April. It was in the shop in April for 4 days trying to find the reason that when it shifts it "stutters" between gears. they changed spark plugs (duh) and then Tranny fluid. and it was a little better. No CODES where showing.
Now today after only one day they call and say the tranny has " an internal failure" ? and they recommend a new tranny for $4525 or a used one for $2570.
They also say it is drivable but cannot say when it might or how it might be a total failure to operate.
It had 93000 miles on it in April and now has 97000 miles on it.
Am I getting ripped off?
Any suggestions?

Any update on this? My 2015 3.6 L 8 speed is doing the same thing!

I'm having similar issues. I recently moved half way across the US towing a trailer and not long after I got here I was having problems. I asked around and nobody seemed to know so I did a service on it. Turns out it was just extremely low on fluid. I filled it up but it kept giving me the same problem after a few days. I have a leak in my cooler line but I got a new one to replace it
