I have a 19 classic and was going to install the factory under hood light kit like I've seen may do. Simple plug and play addition. When I popped the hood, first thing I see is I'm missing the connector harness that sits on the cowl coming up from the engine. Is it hiding under wraps some where now or RAM delete this?

I think they might of deleted the harness,as my buddy bought a 19 Classic, and we went over it pretty good looking for the harness and connector and couldn't find it on his truck either

My buddy bought a 19 Bighorn Classic and it didn't have the harness either. To the best of my knowledge pretty much all the trucks had the harness until the Classic came out so I really not sure why they seemed to delete it.

From what I have read here and another RAM site they deleted it .The bean counters have spoken . The way to save a buck and charge you more :O
I am sure a harness could be made or purchased but that does suck that you have to do that

I went looking for it too on my 2020 Ram Classic a month ago too find that it was not there [emoji26]. Too bad, it was a very handy option, will have to rig something else up. Didnt look for the light mount hole yet as the insulating material was covering that area.

You can make your own hood light for a few bucks.
Old-style door plunger switch, some wire & a stick-on light. Mount the switch in an existing fender hole, run the wiring and presto!

If he has the factory light, all he needs is 12V power and a ground,as they use a motion switch inside the light itself.Lift the hood and the internal switch turns on

Yeah, they actually make mercury switched lights too. He could run LED strips, pods, the choices are endless.
Was offering a dead-simple solution not involving the factory wiring.

My 2017 Ram 1500 express had the plug for an under hood light, my 2019 classic does not. It might have been 2018 when then did away with them.

If I'm not mistaken that harness goes between the light and the connector/harness that is missing on the classics.in other word classics have nothing to plug into.

Run a 12 gauge wire from the battery across to the right headlight & back to a place near the hood hinge , then get the mercury switch , wiring & hood light from what ever source
You should use an inline fuse near the battery

I had a 2019 Classic and now a 2021 Classic and both are missing the harness and connection point for the Mopar under hood light. There is the space in the hood liner for it, but no harness. They also deleted the engine cover on my 2021, my 2019 came with one. If I had known they did that I would have kept the cover and pin/bolt from my 19’ and put it onto my 21’ I ended up buying one second hand for my 2021’ Hemi.

I may wire in my own led light and switch under the hood once it is nicer weather out here. Not fun to do in -20C winter air lol!!

Yup, just direct wire to battery with inline fuse setup, run wires, tada. Honestly though, since I do not do a lot of stuff unda hood in the night, my 1000 lumen flash light works too, LOL.

No connection plug for DT 5th Gen Bighorn, or ne thing else, gotta luv RAM. Save a buck,
