2007 Ram 1500 4x4. 96,000 miles. The dash is acting up. It's sporadic and happens in bunches. Everything will be working fine and then the following happens all at once, for ~1 second, then returns to normal. this cycle repeats randomly. Here is what happens:
- speedo and tach needles go to zero
- chime operates
- warning lights come on
- boxes appear around each of the gear selector positions (PRND21)
- All dash illumination lights stay on as normal.
- audicle click when things go back to normal.

A different dash cluster was installed a few thousand miles ago because it was doing the same thing. The replacement was fine for a while and now it's acting like the old one. Can't seem to find any answers online. Did I just get a bad replacement cluster? Any tests I can do to diagnose?
thanks!

Sounds like one of the infamous electrical gremlins on these 3rd gens, it's probably a corrupted pcm, since it's the second cluster is what makes me think of the pcm.

The TIPM had a corroded terminal in one of the wire harness plug connections. New TIPM and new connector on end of one of the wire harnesses. Everything works normally, so far.:favorites13:

Or it could be that too, glad you figured it out. When my truck was doing all that crazy ****, I replaced both, dealer pcm for warranty purpose only, and junkyard tipcm, everything has been good since.
The corrosion that was already on your terminal end is probably creeping up through the pins so inevitably the tipcm traces will be affected so just be prepared.
