Canadian built truck now in Arizona
59,000 miles

I am having an issue at start up which consists of the following problems, not always together :
1) Loud, sharp, abrupt knock, harsh at start up only
2) Rough, stumbling start
3) Repeative start attempts with turn over but no ignition (3 attempts max)
4) Start up with toxic, foul odor outside of truck

Attempts of resolution
Local ram dealer kept truck 2 days could not replicate issue.
Dealer recommended using premium fuel as the only solution.
The dealer had the truck during very moderate AZ temps.... 60* F ish
I ran (2) 30 gal tanks of premium during cooler temps and did not notice the knock/start up problem but did notice the odor problem.

When this happens
When outside temp are 70* F ++
Much more pronounced during hot 90" F + days
When truck has sat outdoors for 1 hr ish
Have not noticed this problem when it is cooler.
Problem appeared arounf 40-50k miles

My theory
Something is not working properly releaving the pressure built up when outdoor temps are higher resulting in vapor lock type situation or flooding over pressurising the fuel system causing flooded condition.

I would very much appreciate your ideas as I have little confidence in the dealer's solution which has no diagnosic back up.

No takers on this conundrum? Is it the Canadian thing scaring you off?
Anyways still kinda wonky so I thinking new injectors and plugs... 65k miles seems kind of soon but tired of wait for someth8ng to break...

I missed your original post. First thing coming to my mind is a temperature sensor not working correctly causing too much fuel for the temperature when starting. Try "clear flood mode" by holding the pedal to the metal on second try (this causes the injectors not to fire) and see if it makes a difference.
