4XDad: As a retired Passenger Railroad Engineer, I experienced many encounters with the beasts and did find out if I able get my headlights dimmed (out) in time they were quick enough to avoid getting hit, unfortunately I would be traveling at speeds around 125 -135 mph and didn't allow much time. Tough animals though, if you hit one generally you had to stop to pull the remains out from underneath in order to continue on. Automobiles are a different situation.

125mph wow that’s crazy. I’m pretty sure Canadian trains don’t travel that fast. Although I used to race the via passenger trains on my dirt bike back in the day. They were hard to keep up to but i was on the service road

11 grand thr missus granted the wish of a suicidal deer. 11 grand cad estimated to fix it. I got the freaked out phone call not much I can do told her to get a hold of the cops and report it. No big deal other than the 250$ cad deductible I pulled the headlight bucket out and cut back the inner fender so nothing would fall off or make a noise
Been there. Wife took my truck to work one morning, with less than 500 miles and only two weeks old, mauled a small deer, bumper cover and license plate bracket was all that was damaged. Hardest phone call she ever made. Good luck on your repair.

People seem overly optimistic about deer guards. They only weigh 200 pounds. Hit a horse, a cow, or an elk and you are looking at 1000 pounds or even more. Hit a moose and you take out the legs and he comes through the windshield.

My advice is avoid driving at night in areas with lots of wildlife and livestock. If you go drive under the speed limit. Have a spotter in the front seat.

Last fall I was driving home from Seattle on the volcanic plateau in northern California in broad daylight. A delivery truck driver was going too fast and mangled a deer which was nothing but a long string of guts on the state highway. The guy was in shock. He was parked in the road with his door open. He was just staring at what was left of the deer. I should have stopped to help him gather his wits. Speed kills.

Time to get the umarex out
That company should be banned and illegal.
You need to quit looking through the wrong end of dat telescope.

Hitting deer sucks. Bigger worry are big cows out and friggin wild boars/hogs.
Buddy's wife here at work hit a hogg few ago in a mini van...insurance totaled the vehicle...I saw pics...van was mangled pretty bad
I also saw a school bus on i-75 just miss a deer...deer literally did 1 jump across 2 lanes...that bus driver musta crapped his pants(he was real slow reacting)....I was off his left rear center lane bout 4 car lengths back and saw an animal flying across the road

Umarex makes stupidly realistic bb guns with no markings that it's not a real gun..sounds like you have one?i dont have the answer for this other than to shut the business down but that is wrong from the business owners standpoint(dont get me wrong,i get it,one could paint it all black even after the company put it out there with say flourescent orange on the tip or even the whole thing to cover there butt).a co workers kid had one of a glock(dad had no idea where he got it from)---thats another thing kids can buy these online no checks no nothing....the dumbazz made the mistake of showing it at a store parking lot seen on security cameras then later reached for it when a police officer was called by 1 of the store clerks...officer stopped him from moving his hands reaching behind him(gun was tucked in waistband)and got it away from him before he could do something really stupid.....he is so lucky he didn't get killed.dad got the gun as there was no crime committed i guess being a bb gun, gave it to me and said destroy it,i put a torch to and cut it in half.what I'm saying is there needs to be some kind of true replication laws on this sort of thing,i dont have the answer.this is just my view on it when a child or any person thinks hes billy the kid and then gets killed by an officer pointing a toy that looks so realistic you cant tell the difference and I'm a pro gun saying this.

"No use trying to fool proof anything, there is a better class of fool coming along every day." When I was a kid, the toy guns looked real. Mostly fine except for the occasional fool the gene pool is better off without.

I’m in total agreement bb/ pellet guns that looks like the real thing should not be given to kids. I also believe in gun safety training at an early age. I learned to shoot at 8 years old (Canada was alot different back then). I gave my wifes oldest a break barrel pellet gun and built a backstop so he could shoot it in the back yard. I supervised him and he did pretty good. Then about a week later I here is pointing it at his little brother and threatening to shoot him. It didn’t end well for him. And he is no longer part of my life. Little brother was the same rules as his brother same equipment and no problems ever. Then when he got a little older I took him out to my buddies house to help roof his garage. The payment was a day of shooting. My buddy has lots of guns big and small. That I believe is the way to teach them
