I actually paid over $70,000 for the truck, with a highly-marketed 12" Uconnect system and 19 speakers, and expecting a complete product. So yes, I did pay for all upgrades to this system, as parts, sales, and service are income to Stellantis that in turn pays for the product support, including all warranty. As a customer, I fully expect the simple things in addition to the more complex. I am driving a truck, which is a complex system. It is made up of simpler systems. Are you implying that I am simply to shut up and just hand over the cash, and accept mediocrity, because this is a "simple" feature? You may choose this, but I absolutely do not.
As a business owner, my clients would not allow me to provide a sub-par product, but would shop me around for someone who either provides a better product for the same price, a similar product for less price, or a better product for a better price. This is business 101. Nice is not part of this equation unless one does not like to be in business.
As far as complaining to Google, yes, they botch a lot of things. However, I seriously doubt they are to blame here. Do yo not think that Uconnect would be stating clearly that it is not their shortcomings causing the still lack of full screen for Android Auto, over 4 years after the inception and release of the 12" screen? I do. I would also like to point out, in case it was missed, that full screen works in all of Stellantis' competition, solely excluding us. This is the main clue supporting my stance.
I think we who use our hard-earned money need to indeed vote with our money. I bought this Ram because my F150 I bought in 2020 had the 5.0 Coyote issue of using oil and at 20k miles sounding like I never changed the oil despite following the recommended service intervals. The Ram has less real-world power, far poorer fuel economy, and the in-dash technology is a constant complaint, not only limited to the annoying non full screen AA. The unit is glitchy and cumbersome. As such, I will not be buying another Ram truck for my next vehicle.
