Rams newest uconnect update broke my nav. system

I upgraded my 2016 1500 with the factory nav. when I first bought my truck.I was very happy with the system, then noticed today the nav is screwed up since they pushed the update, it shows the truck icon floating off the road, and none of the streets jive up.I tried to disconnect the neg batt terminal, no luck.Anyone else have this issue?

Your best bet is to download the appropriate update onto a flash drive and update your system.

I did look through the forum, did not see what I was looking for, as far as the the link for updates...I don't have a clue what I need to do with that, the update uploaded automatically , I would have no idea which one, or what to do with it as far as a flash drive.

Ok.

Reply with your trucks year model and radio type. And ill walk you through it.


The radio will be either an ra4 or ra3.

They are identical. The difference is in the nav.

If you had nav strait from the factory, its in ra4

If you had the nav activated after, by the dealer, its in ra3

So, what model year and radio type?

I have a 2016 1500 sport, I added the nav with an online deal(not dealer, paid a couple hundred $ and they gave you a code to put in after you supply the given code on the radio) so yes, must be a ra3 thanks for your help, I'm not really computer savvy.

No worries. You came to the right place.

1. Ok first thing. Your going to need a usb thumb drive. A simple, cheap, not encrypted, run of the mill usb drive. At least 4 gb in size. Ive been using an 8gb and a 12gb for these updates, and so,w either will work fine.

2. You need to format the drive in fat32 format. This is easy. Put the drive in a usb port, right click the flash drive icon, and select "format". In the format options, choose fat32, and quick format.

Are you computer savvy enough that those instructions make sense?

If not, ill post some pics.

Ok. Ive got a couple of you who will be following along. Ill post files for each.

Youll need a blank, clean flash drive. No other files on it.

For the guy that already has 8.45 files on a drive, save that. Use a different drive for this.

Its a .zip file, so once it downloads, youll need to open the zip file and save the files inside it onto your flash drive. Do not save to zip files to uour flash drive. Only the files inside the zip file. There should be 2 files. Swdl.iso and swdl.upd

Ok. As i mentioned, youll be downloading a zip file. Once its downloaded, open it. Youll find 2 files inside. Swdl.iso and swdl.upd (or something like that)

Save those 2 files, and nothing else onto your flash drive.

Grab a couple beers, and head out to your truck.

Once your in the truck, start the engine, get comfortable. This is gonna take about 45 minutes to an hour.

Once the trucks idling, your beers open, and the radio is on, pop that flash drive into your usb port. Within a minute or so, you dhould have a popup on the radio that will start you on the update process.

Report back here when done, and we will go through the steps to get from 17.43.01 up to 18.45.01

No. Open the link, and save the one .zip file to your computers desktop.

Norton333, save the 2016 file to your desktop.

DJhartmn, save the 2014 file to your desktop.

Once its saved to the desktop, open the file and save the 2 files inside it, onto the flash drive

So, to recap. The only files on the flash drive, will be the swdl.iso and swdl.upd files.

There wont be any other folders or files on the flash drive.

Once your done with that, take the flash drive out to your truck, start the engine, get comfortable. This is gonna take about 45 minutes to an hour.

Once your done, the radio will reboot. Since the fash drive will still be in the port, the radio will think you want to update again.
You will get a message that says something like "do you want to update from version 17.43.01 to version 17.43.01.

Once you see that message, youll know the update was a success. Remove the flash drive.

Now, we can go create another flash drive, with version 18.45.01 on it.

Report back here when done, and we will go through the steps to get from 17.43.01 up to 18.45.01

Once your done there. Your going to repeat the process with the 18.45 files.

So, youll need a clean fresh flash drive, with no files on it.

Then, your going to download the following .zip file on to your desktop

This time, there will be 5 files to save onto the flash drive.

Save those 5 (i think there were 5, maybe ) files on to your flash drive, crack open another beer, grab an extra beer and head back out to the truck.

Start the engine, pop in the flash drive, and do the same thing you did on the 17.43.01 update.

When (if) it reboots and asks you if you wanna go from 18.45.01 up to version 18.45.01, pull the flash drive out. Your done.
