I had a buddy with a 454 SS,we spent more time street racing my big block Z and his big block Chevelle as kids, then Carter had pills, lol.
Yep, 396, it ran strong, and rode much nicer than my 'CudaI had a buddy with a 454 SS,we spent more time street racing my big block Z and his big block Chevelle as kids, then Carter had pills, lol.
I can't really make out the fender decal, but it looks like your old toy started life as a 396 Chevelle. I have alot of respect for the old 396,as it would take alot of abuse and keep on ticking, lol
The 396 was the only engine,i couldn't blow up in my old Camaro. I went through a pile of engines in that car as a kid,and the 396 was virtually bulletproof.By no stretch was it the fastest big block i had in the car,but it was the most reliable big block the car ever had, lol.Yep, 396, it ran strong, and rode much nicer than my 'Cuda
If the cowl decal hasn't been messed with,it looks like a 77,brings back memories of my old 77 regular cab shortbox i had in high school,in the late 70's. I swapped it to the 78/79 grill after the truck attacked my high school principles car,in the schools parking lot, I was in a bit of trouble over that one
Did it have the overdrive 4 speed in it. The old 300 was a good engine, easy to work on,and virtually indestructiable.Usually the body fell off them old 300's,before the engine diedI had a '78 with the 300-6, talk about a bulletproof motor.
The pictures don't do it justice. He didn't have a detail placard, but it had to be one of the best modern (basically a whole ass F250 diesel) retrofits I've seen. I saw a similar one done on one of the tv shows (think it was Trucks!), but they put the Ford on a modified late 2G Ram Cummins frame & running gear.If the cowl decal hasn't been messed with,it looks like a 77,brings back memories of my old 77 regular cab shortbox i had in high school,in the late 70's. 77 had the old grill 78 got that grill unless like my dads it was in an accident and got it changed. My dad had a black 77 step side when he was a teenager. 302/c4 truck dana rear end. He said it would eat the tires up. It was also our first build together as he found it about 15 years later. The 302 was gone. I wonder why lol. We ended up finding a 428 M CJ motor and a C6. Ive told the story many times on here. That truck with that combo was a nightmare on the street. It had so much torque that it broke the snubber off of a set of Lakewood traction bars he had on it.If the cowl decal hasn't been messed with,it looks like a 77,brings back memories of my old 77 regular cab shortbox i had in high school,in the late 70's. The little Rabbit with the LS would be a hell'va sleeper. Is that a Viper engine in the suicide doored 67 Camaro?
