77 had the old grill 78 got that grill unless like my dads it was in an accident and got it changed. My dad had a black 77 step side when he was a teenager. 302/c4 truck dana rear end. He said it would eat the tires up. It was also our first build together as he found it about 15 years later. The 302 was gone. I wonder why lol. We ended up finding a 428 M CJ motor and a C6. Ive told the story many times on here. That truck with that combo was a nightmare on the street. It had so much torque that it broke the snubber off of a set of Lakewood traction bars he had on it.
His 77 originally would of had the 8.8 rearend,as 77 was the year they switched from the old 9 inch to the 8.8 rearend.
my little RCSB started life with a 400M,eventually it morfed into an heathly 460 / C6.Had alot of fun with it once it had the 460,lol.
Went to school with a guy who had a beautiful little 75 XLT shortbox, that he put a 428 in. Ford used the 360/390 up till 76.so it was a direct swap for the 390 the truck had originally started life with.He bought the 428 off my cousin, and Norm had breathed on the 428 before he sold it,so the truck was a hell've tire spinner.

Not sure on the Dana, but I do vividly remember it having one. That is what he did. Went to a junk yard and robbed the ac stuff and whatever else wouldn't directly bolt up. You could still find plenty of them back in the 90s. They were torque monsters. I can only imagine what a 440 or 426 would have been like. My dad said a 440/4 spd Daytona he rode in back in the early 80s he said the only time you could see over the hood was when he shifted it.

I blew up the 8.8 in mine,by doing 4,000 rpm neautral drops, lol. When it let go i scrounged up a 9" out of an early Unicab truck, had to relocate the spring perches as they were 4" narrower then the later 9" ,but it sure tucked the wheels nicely.I had 15X10 deep dish white spokes on the truck with 295/50/15 T/A's and they fit inside the wheel wells .Truck looked wicked if you were following it,as it had a fair bit of rubber under it.

LOL - I did the same thing with my Mach 1 in the high school parking lot, about 4,000 RPM and dumped the clutch. The teachers were not happy, although all my friends thought it was great.

Nice! The 8.8 were fairly tough. Its a popular mod for the LS cars. My dad ran 15x10 cragers on the back and I want to say 15x6 or 15x8 to stagger them on the front. He ran the same size tires on his on the back. I dont remember the front size. I would assume 225 or 245 on the front.

Big-n-littles are still the way to go yet,"in my opinion" lol.I ran a 15X8 with 235/70's on the front.Majority of trucks back then were still 2 wheel drive,i think there was one 4X4 RCSB Ford in my high school parking lot in the late 70's.My small hometown had a good sized Ford dealer, and they out sold the Dodge and GM dealers combined by probably 2 to 1. There was 1 454 rcsb step side Chevy, and 1 rcsb Dodge, and well over a dozen rcsb Fords. The little Chevy was one of the fastest stock 454's i ever ran into though,it was a definite unicorn 454,that damn truck ate alot of the local big block muscle cars to 110 mph, with just a set of headers and an intake manifold he was beating the majority of 440 and 454 muscle cars in the area

Aw the good old 70s! That was such a great time to be alive. I know from what my dad said there were certain motors that rolled off the line that were faster then others. Ford especially. That even went through the Foxbody cars. I could take the same car same year same engine. Put identical set ups in it and one would be a lot faster then the other.

Always wanted a Motion Vega,i still think they were a tough looking little car.
Is that a little Morris Minor?
Friend of my uncle had a '72 Vega that could pop wheelies. Bout the only time I ever got startled in a motor vehicle because I wasn't prepared to be looking at sky through the windshield at 10 yrs old....
I hate that the upload takes out some of the detail. It's a Fiat Nuovo 500.
