Turning a corner at speed or stopping on a dime wasn't in this things list of accomplishments :waytogo: :Big Laugh:

The Beastly 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 440 M-Code
In 1969, Dodge unleashed a true monster onto the streets with the Dart GTS 440 M-Code. This compact muscle car might have looked unassuming at first glance, but under its hood lay a ferocious 440 cubic-inch V8 engine, ready to leave just about anything in its dust.
It all started a couple of years earlier when a dealer in Illinois decided that the Dodge Dart needed more than just a facelift. By 1968, the idea of dropping a 440 Magnum into the compact A-body was born, leading to the creation of a small but mighty powerhouse. This experiment proved so successful that Chrysler decided to bring it to life on a larger scale.
The 1969 Dodge Dart GTS M-Code wasn’t your average muscle car. It was stripped down to the essentials: no power steering, no power brakes, and definitely no air conditioning. This was a car built purely for speed and performance, with every ounce of its design focused on one thing—dominating the quarter-mile.
With only 640 units ever produced, the M-Code Dart is a rare beast, and finding one today is like striking gold. Those who’ve had the chance to experience this machine will tell you that it’s not for the faint of heart. The massive 440 engine in such a lightweight body makes for a wild ride, especially when the throttle is opened up on a drag strip.
The Dart GTS 440 M-Code may not have been built for comfort, but it was certainly built for thrills. It’s a true testament to the golden age of muscle cars, where raw power and straight-line speed were the ultimate goals. This car wasn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it was about getting there faster than anyone else, with a roar that could shake the ground beneath you.

Maybe not. Gremlins had the 401engine as an option, not really a stretch to fit a 6.4 in there.
Actually the biggest factory engine installed in a Gremlin was the 304,there were a few AMC dealers installing 360 and 401's in them though,as both engines are a direct swap for the 304. The Hornet which was the same as a Gremlin from the doors foward could be had with a factory 360 though.

I think it's photo shopped /AI generated as the engine looks a bit wonky, but it'd be a hell'va ride if anybody ever did build one,lol

360 and 401 powered Gremlins weren't all that uncommon years ago.Back in high school one of the guys that worked at the local tire shop in my small hometown had built one,and a few years later we dropped a 401 in a buddies 304 powered Gremlin X,then i ran a 401 / 4 speed powered Hornet X in the late 80's early 90's.The 4 speed didn't stay in it all that long, before i swapped it over to a built 998 auto.
I didn't notice the front end change on the illustration one ,till i read the article,i actually don't think it did the car any favours though

LOL - lipstick on a pig?

When AMC made a venture in to NHRA Pro Stock racing in the '70's, they tried using the Gremlin body to be competitive. They discovered handling problems on the top end. It was described like "the car was trying to turn around" at around 130-140. They did wind tunnel testing and discovered that a Gremlin body was more aerodynamic backwards than forwards.

Well, I knew the 401 would fit. lol. I was going by memory. A few in my high school class bought them new. Most had the six cylinder. The coolest thing was the blue jeans seats. Wish ram offered that option.

That was one benefit to an AMC V8,if it had a 290 / 304 / 343 or 360,a 390 or 401 was basically an R&R job.
