This talk about the big cars reminds me of some pics in my archive.

Not sure how many of you remember the Hurst girl's 300H Convertible? With the big platform and the T handle shifter. A 1 of None, that Hurst built a 440 TNT Convertible 300C as one of their hard tops. Just for the parades and track events. Have a friend here in town that owns it...

Built by Bill "Maverick" Golden, the "Little Red Wagon" was a 1965 Dodge A100 pickup that wasn't just any drag racer—it was a wheel-stander, known for blasting down the quarter-mile with its nose pointed to the sky.
Initially, the A100 was built as a mid-engine truck for drag racing, powered by a monstrous 426 Hemi V8. But during testing, it revealed its true star power by popping up into a wheelie that stretched the length of the track.
Golden quickly realized that this accident was pure gold, and he turned the "Little Red Wagon" into a performance phenomenon, touring drag strips nationwide. Fans would come from miles around just to see it lift up and scream down the strip on its rear wheels.
The "Little Red Wagon" was more than just a showpiece; it set records, including being the first wheel-stander to run the quarter-mile in under 11 seconds.

When I was a kid I built a model car kit of the Red Wagon. Had it for many years, until it got broken.

A few years back Hemi Under Glass did some runs at Musclecars At The Strip here at the Las Vegas drag strip. I have an autographed picture somewhere in my memorabilia mess in the garage. Thought I had pics in my phone archive but haven't found them yet.

The newest vehicles I see are way in the back the square body Chevy pickups. That might be a Volare or an LTD at the back fence as well. If Volare I'd say 77 or 78. If Ltd, I'd say 74 or 75.

I went by the late model 2nd gen Camaro in the lower left, right in front of the F150 under the 7-8 sign post. Those taillights were '78 - '81

Blast from the Past Drag Racing



The Hurst Hairy Olds was another brainchild of George Hurst. This twin-engine, four-wheel-drive beast was certainly aptly named. Its cockpit had dual shifters and dual gas pedals to control two massive fuel-injected and supercharged 425-ci Oldsmobile V-8s. It was driven by Joe Schubeck.

reader Enrique Ojeda sent pictures of what he claims is the world's first Gen III Hemi engine swap into a GM G-body car, and we haven't found any evidence to indicate otherwise. Yes, this is a real Buick Grand National that Ricky bought about a year ago to do the swap.hough purists will cry foul, we see a certain logic behind the project and wrote recently that we think Gen III Hemis will be finding their way into the engine compartments of a wide variety of vehicles soon.

Ricky tells us the Hellcat engine and eight-speed automatic transmission came out of a wrecked 2016 Charger. He used a set of universal LS engine mounts and adapted them to fit the Hemi to the car and made a custom transmission mount to secure the components in place.

For engine management, hean EFI Source's Gold Box ECM and engine harness, plus Sound German Automotive's transmission harness. In the process, he upgraded the pulleys, fuel rails, and fuel injectors.

The headers are custommade to fit this application, and Ricky also upgraded the chassis with Wilwood front brakes, rear brakes from a Tesla, a hydroboost master cylinder, CPP control arms, and Viking coilover shocks.


this mbe the first Hemi-swapped G-body, we know for sure it won't be the last. Schwartz Performance in Woodstock, Illinoisis working on a Monte Carlo SS with a Hellcat Hemi under the hood. For now, though, we're really liking Ricky's GN. He says he did the work in a regular twocar garage working on jack stands. It runs and drives now, but he's continuing to refine it, working on the paint and interior currently.

That was my guess. Also look in the parking lot. Definetley late 70s cars.
