So I bought the dodge on sat. Finally got it home and my girlfriend goes whats that spot right here?!?!?! Im like what r u talking about? It's a freaking paint defect from the factory! Boy was i mad. I didnt see it at the dealer and apparently the dealer didnt see it either when they "inspected it to take delivery?" So i took it back to the dealer and they have take a picture and summit it to Chrysler and all this crap. The defect is on the drivers side rear door and its close to where the doors meet. The body guy says well looks like to fix it the best he is gonna have to prep and re paint both doors to blend it the best! Its a little disappointed cause now i gotta take it back to them whenever they finally get approval. Its just a real inconvenience and. ok ok my rant is over!

Question to yall is have yall had any experience with factory paint defects??????

I hate to say it, but look around your truck some more..... I bet you will find some other paint defects.

I had a paint issue as well. Dealer took care of it. Now I have another spot and the service manager is dicking me around saying it is a result of tree sap or bird ****.

I had huge paint issues on my 11. You may consider living with it if you can.
The dealers paint shop f***up my repaint to bad that I ended up with a lawyer, 1 year later chrysler ponyed up the bill, and truck was traded in. What a PITA!

Good luck.

The paint on my Ram and '11 Grand Cherokee is pretty good. My previous '09 Aspen, not so much.

I have also now noticed scratchs on rear bumper and chipped paint spot on the bumper as well. Everyday after work I am now washing and inspecting the vehicle! When they do get approval from chrysler to do the repair work I will be sitting down with the GM more than likely.

Keep us updated on the outcome. I didn't have any problems with Chrysler approving the repairs. My problems came when the dealership did a half-ass job on the paint, and I refused to take the truck back until it was perfect.

I second this. I got pretty lucky with mine, all I have is some dust and dirt in the paint on the roof and hood. Other than that my truck has excellent paint and thank god because its black.

My buddy on the other hand, bought a silver 13 Laramie CC with several paint defects. One on the passenger side rear door that looks like there was a drip in the base coat and a worker just wiped it away with their finger and then sent it on to be clear coated. There is another spot like this on the tailgate. He is extremely OCD about his vehicles so he took it back to the dealer and they told him they would have to paint/blend the tailgate and rear door to fix it. He declined to have them do it just simply because he didn't want them messing with the paint. The sticker price for his truck was over $48k and its very disappointing to find these kinds of preventable paint defects on a vehicle that expensive. You shouldn't be finding these kinds of defects on a base model economy car nevermind on a top of the line truck...

Meh. They're american made vehicles of low/mid grade quality. The paint is the last thing I'd be worried about. My '11 F150 could have been sponsored by tropicana the orange peel was so bad. I had to flat block parts just to make it presentable. My '13 Ram has some spots that are not great. It is what it is.

If I want perfect paint that looks like glass I'll buy another MB/BMW/Audi/Jag etc.
