I'm considering trading my 2015 2500 up to a 2018 3500. I was curious about my AMP PowerSteps; is it possible to remove them and re-mount on the new truck? Or would I be better off just buying new ones?

Remove them, cuz they ain’t gonna give you any more money on your trade if you leave them on.

Don't see why not. Assuming nothing changed on the 2018, you'd have to get more rivnuts for the install. The one issue you might have is the harness, is yours the plug-n-play where it connects to the OBD port or is it tied into the truck wiring? If it's the truck wiring you might want to get a new harness with the plug-n-play, much easier to install.

You just need to buy new rivetnuts for the new truck.

New rivnuts will be needed. I'd check their website to see if the same part number fits the new truck that's on your current truck.

Are the mounts the same between a 2500 and 3500? If so, take those with you.

If you had plug & play obd, it will not work on the 18s. Something is different. So, they would need to be hard wired. Amp Research was working on the ‘18 model. I haven’t checked for a while, but I’d think by now they would have it working.
So the steps you have now are just for ‘17 and older. Check with Amp Research.

Good to know, I'm actually debating between a used '17 with 5k miles and a new '18, pretty much identical. As much as I want the CarPlay in the '18, I just think the crosshair grill looks so much better. This would be one other benefit if my steps work on it. I will follow up with Amp.

I really wish I would have done that. They don't give those things away and my wife insisted I put them on my new truck.
