I was wondering if with the auto park brake setting that possibly the brake pads are being kept just a small amount closer to the rotors. Compared to operation without the parking brake being frequently applied.
Also most of my trips are fairly short in miles with frequent slow downs and stops. The first mile of my trips include a 1/4 mile down the driveway with the brakes lightly applied to keep the speed down, then a short straight and a stop sign, then another down hill section with a curve which requires braking then a up hill to another stop sign.

A good question which prompted me to ask a Ram tech. According to the training course the eBrake motor retracts until it senses a zero pressure on the pad, which means that it offers no influence on pad contact pressure in the fully relieved position.

In his opinion rears wear out sooner Rams that are used mostly when not carrying or towing loads, or when drivem mostly on highways with limited stops.

Till the end of the year there is a rebate available on power stop brake kits. I have a 2500, and the brakes have always been lack luster, and I do tow a fifth wheel occasionally. Going to do the Z36 kit for mine very soon.

The other issue is traction and stability control , if it senses wheel spin or sliding it will apply brakes to control . My daughter had a Mazda 3 add it ate rear brakes , from what I read the rear brakes were used to help assist with cornering .
