I have a 2011 Ram sport. Just looked and I have no filler cap on the case. Just two drain plugs on the side. I just need to top off the fluid until I get my hub done. It’s leaking. Can i just take off the top drain plug and top off the fluid to that top plug? Will I still need to add the limited slip if it only needs a little bit?

Could you take a pic? Never heard of a diff like this. They've always had a fill plug some distance above the drain plug. Most often it's the drain plug that's missing, and you have to pull the cover off to drain.

Just did mine on my 2016 1500. Drain plug near the bottom right side, fill plug up near the top. Also had the rubber grommet right in the middle of the cover that can be used to fill or check level.

Ya I remember now when I had warranty the cover was leaking so they must have replaced it with a cover with no filler plug on the front. Diff cover. Should I just top it of from the top drain plug for now until I get the hub fixed. I have to drive a few hrs in the next few days

Would it to full time bring it up to the top drain plug on the side?

Yeah, if it needs to be topped off just use the top fill plug. But no, full should be in the center at the rubber plug. So I wouldn't fill it all the way to the top fill plug.

The rear end has Center Pumpkin with plug holes in it
2 axle tubes are located between the Pumpkin & backing plates on each end

Your differential fluid level should be up to the Center of the Axle Tubes, when parked on level ground.

So there should be a plug located right at that height

I recall a year or 2 when the plug was located too low, A TSB or Recall was sent out & the Inspection Cover was replaced by Chrysler, the new cover had the Plug located in the correct location.

I am guessing, but i believe that occurred on the
2011 Ram 1500 9.25", also called the ZF 235mm rear differential
It may have been Recall K36

I can see the silicone they used. They must have changed the cover to this one without the filler cap. They did this under warranty
