Hey guys, I don't yet have a ram but I plan to get a 3rd gen around next spring. So say I had a hemi with 3.92 gearing, I say 3.92 because that's what my brother has in his truck, so If I were to change the gearing to maybe 4.10 just to get a little more low end pull. Is it worth it for the extra low end pull you get and how does it affect the fuel mileage? Also Is it very hard to change it? Thanks for any input!

Gears are very particular, so if you don't have experience, most won't recommend it. If you get a 2wd and only have to do the rear axle, you should be able to find a reputable shop and be out the door with parts under $600-800. Jumping from 3.92 to 4.10 won't net much of a difference however. If you're staying stock, and doing the change for towing, I'd save your money and keep the 3.92s. 4.56's would be a little much for towing from what I've read. Your money would be better spent else where on such as a tuner and other bolt on mods. Good luck on your search & purchase!

If you don't have the experience or tools, it's best left to pros. Like he said, you won't get much gain going from 3.92 to 4.10. It will be a little noticeable (I recently went from 2.82's to 3.06's in my Charger, you can feel it but it isn't huge), but not enough to justify the cost. If you don't do a whole lot of highway driving, 4.56's make a huge difference. Will also make a huge difference on what you spend on gas lol.

Or you could go with a shorter profile tire when the time comes to replace them and save yourself a lot of time and money and get the same result.

it will be dependent on what size tire/wheel you'll be running... if you're gonna be runnin stock 20's, 4.56's is a nice up-mod. 17's i would stay with 3.92's, but, if it came with 3.55's than 4.10's would be a nice upgrade.... the higher the gearing (3.92's, 3.55's, 3.21's), you could almost do it yourself as the adjustments aren't that critical, but with 4.10's and 4.56's, get the adjustment down right or they'll whine like crazy and aear out pretty quick.... I know :)
