Going to change the gear oil in the wifes truck. I read many threads's on doing this it seem's easy enough. But nobody mention's the rubber gasket. Just wondering why use silicone instead of the rubber gasket. Thx

They use silicone from the factory

I used sealer, like Butch said thats what they use when they build them.

My 2500 came from the factory with a rubber gasket. It's still on there after a few changes. Works great

I make my own off the Fel-Pro Roll but Mopar RTV is all you'll need.
