If I get up to speed on the highway, about 70 mph, and let off to coast, as,my truck do shifts, the rear end bounces. You can see it obviously in the rear view as the bed goes up and down.

I'm not sure if it's suspension related, or transmission, or even my differential! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind, this is a 2002 dodge ram 2500 4x4 with the 5.9l v8 magnum, and automatic transmission.

Is it actually just the bed or can you feel the whole truck shake? I would try replacing shocks and see if that helps.

I can feel the whole truck shake. It's more of a bounce in the middle of the truck, which is making the read end look like it's bouncing. Like the whole truck bows up and down. But that's just how it feels. Any suggestions for shocks?

bilstein 5100 are the favorite of this forum, fox also makes great shocks. All a matter of what you want to spend.

I can't spend anything too crazy. Still hard to believe shocks can make that much difference across brands and what not.

Middle of the truck bounces? Check the U-joint on the front of the rear drive shaft, and check the shaft itself to make sure it's not bent. If the joint is seized or the shaft is bent, it could cause an issue similar to what you are experiencing. My '99 had a hell of a bend in the shaft after climbing over a fallen tree and striking the drive shaft against the log and it caused the whole truck to shake violently at speed.

My truck used to bounce at exactly 45-48 mph...and still does, but much less since I put new tires on it.

Comp test and check for a miss. Cap rotor plugs all done? Plenum gasket done?

I did the plenum fix when I bought the truck. Still not sucking in any oil at all through there. I still feel a miss at idle, small issue it seems (maybe a miss). Cap and rotor and plugs and wires were all done about 23000 miles ago. Maybe it's time again? In not sure what the invernal should be.

I wanted to think that maybe it was an issue with the clutches in my differential. Probably a long shot right?

It was really bad today. On the highway in traffic, rolling around 30-45 mph and it was doing it. It seems to only do it after high speeds, and I slow down .

Yes, still does it. I shift into neutral sometimes to see if it stops, and it also doesn't help.

That's definitely a chassis issue then. Where tho, I don't know.

I can tell you mine is bounces a **** ton over this one particular bump. No where else though. I would start with new shocks. Bilstein 5100's. Then maybe new leaf springs. But im not good with all that stuff. Just some general knowledge.

I do have ONE new leaf spring. I know, they should have replaced them both, but they didn't.

Yeah Id get the other one so you have that done. Then shocks if you want. But this is one of those things that could be a number of things.

Check your body, engine and tranny mounts. Check u joints. Put that ***** in neutral, crawl under and see how much slop is in your differential. Shouldn't be more 1/4 inch (i Think). Also check throttle position sensor voltage.
