Hey all, new member here. I just purchased a 96' Club cab 4x4 with the 360 in it a few weeks ago. She has a lot of miles but she'll do fine for our mini farm. This past week I was heading to the hardware store and while accelerating I noticed between about 47-55 I hear a loud growl and it sounds like its coming from the rear end. After 55 it quiets down tremendously and when it is growling if I get off the gas the sound goes away but then comes back if I touch the throttle. Any idea's? I am getting new tires installed this week because they are shot but if it was tires I would think the noise would get worse and worse and if it was the diff then I would think it the noise would stay around at any decent speed?

Is it half ton or 3/4 ton.The 1/2 tons eat the pinion bearing all the time.

Sorry, it is a 1500. If I go to replace the bearing, is there a kit or something that beefs it up?
