Welcome to the forum. Albeit a little late in greeting.

This is a very unusual issue on this engine. Most oil leaks are traced to the oil filter housing. One of it's symptoms is an oil leak down the back side of the engine. I would suggest a second opinion before you spend that kind of money.

Thx, I rolled the dice and bought with 146k miles… the oil filter housing was the first repair, then both valve cover gaskets, everything dry above…last oil leak draining from inside bell housing out the dust plugs above lower oil pan…I think it can only be rear main or upper oil pan RTV seal behind bell housing….I’m thinking maybe the used dealer put some seal swell in or had heavyweight oil in to hide… I changed oil 2x using Mobil 5w20w….leaking got worse after 5k miles…shop is gonna replace and I sure hope I’m done with oil leaks!!
Thanks for your response.
FYI, I’m 67 and never had a rear main seal go bad in any vehicle. Very frustrating

I have had the oil cooler filter housing fail on a 2014 wrangler and oil dripped out the rubber dust plugs for a long time it was residual oil from the oil cooler housing. I initially thought it was the rear main seal.
