I finally replaced the rear rotors and pads after 119K miles. They still had some meat on them but they started making noise. Replaced them with slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads. The brakes feel tighter and more responsive.

That usually happens when you put new brakes on. I put slotted rotors and ceramic pads on my 11 and got decent mileage out of it. No brake dust either

Wow that's unreal - do you ever use the brakes on that thing?

I thought even factory brakes are ceramic these days? They don't squeal, anyway, and don't think organic is allowed anymore (asbestos)? What rotors and pads did you go with?

Hemimann,

I went with Detroit Axle rotors. I had a coupon and bought the pair for something ridiculous like $120! It popped up around Black Friday 2 years ago.

Agreed, 120k is absurd. Had you already replaced the front rotors and pads?
I replaced the front around 70K with EBC RK Series rotors and pads. They completely changed the braking performance for the better. I was oozing to a stop on the OEM setup; now it stops on a dime.

Good to know, thanks. I'm at 65k now but everything still seems to be good.

I got 100K out of my fronts and rears. The dealer told me they put thinner pads on the rear so they'd wear out at the same time but I never verified that (anyone know there are different part #s for front/rear pads or are the rears noticeably thinner?). And I had them all replaced since my truck was in for some other stuff. At 100K I have to think it was due.

We got 100,000 out of the fronts and rears on my wifes old 2006 Jeep Commander. Bought it new. I had to replace the fronts and rears on my 2018 2500 with 15,000 on them due to what I thought was a warped rotor. Turns out my one rear rotor was all pitted and corroded.

That is pretty good mileage for breaks ! I had 52 k on mine when checked and they were at 40/50% left on the pads. But since the wheels were off and the rotors looked like crap from rust , they went to the trash and I put on WAGNER E Coated rotors and OEX Pads so they shoould be good till I croak lol

Thanks for sharing your experience with your brakes. I hope I can get that mileage out of mine.

I don’t know the full history of my truck since I bought it used but I have 153k on my 2015 2500 and the front rotors have never been replaced. Unless a shop or the previous owner themselves did them and replaced the factory clips they install to hold the rotor in place while on the assembly line they have never been done. Can’t see that happening so I believe they are original.

I got about 80k out of my stock pads. 140k on my rotors. What brand rotors did you go with?
