2022 2500 Ram passenger section of the rear window defrost not working. Still under 3yrs and only 27K miles. Dealer said chrysler wont let them fix it. Said its a wear item. Slider part works. Just the solid glass on the pass side. Was told they would have to replace the whole reaw window. This is not right. That solid window is NOT a wear item. It IS a safety item. They want me to pay for it. Not happening! I was given this number to call and complain. 800,992-1997. Any Corporate on here that can help?

A defroster is not a wear item, it's an electrical item, and as such, is covered under warranty.

I went through this on my Wagon when I had the Lifetime Maxxcare warranty. The soldered on connection popped off at about 80k miles. They said they could do it, they'd have to replace the whole window under warranty (which I was fine with). They did suggest having the local glass shop just fix the window, as that would be less than my deductible on that warranty. So what did I do? I went to the store, bought the kit to do it myself, and put it back on. Everything was fine after that.

I would suggest a new dealer though - that should be covered under your bumper-to-bumper factory warranty since it's not a wear item. Now, I would understand your dealer not wanting to replace it because they don't have a competent body shop - there are several around me that don't even HAVE a body shop, they have to send any and all body work to a different dealer.

seems fishy
