We're currently driving a 2017 1500 BH QC Hemi, with a 6' bed, like it well enough, and we tow a 3K (loaded) pop-up a few times a year. That and firewood and misc stuff - not a heavy duty tow/haul guy.

My wife was commenting the other day that she liked the new Rebel, but wondered if they came in 6' beds. I went out to my dealer's website and found one (mostly we see the shorter bed around town). Nice truck.

I looked at the specs though, and the thing was only rated to tow 6400 lbs. Kinda doesn't matter, I guess, since we tow way below that now...but my 2017 BigHorn is rated at 8k.

I guess the Reb is more for playing offroad, and not so much for towing? Someday we may upgrade to a travel trailer, thinking a Rebel wouldn't really be an option.

Much like the power wagon also has less payload/towing numbers compared to other heavy duty's, the rebels probably would also be lower than a non "off road" truck. The increased flexibility for off road performance comes at the price of reduced payload and towing. Also what gears it has could make a big difference (3.21 vs 3.92).

Like mentioned check if the one you looked at comes with 3.21. without going to configuration, if it comes with 3.92 it should be higher than 6400.

Are you talking about the 5th Gen Rebel...there is nothing that would decrease towing on it.

Are you getting a quad cab as the crew cab only comes with 5'7. (And the 4th Gen doesn't come in a quad cab or 6'4 bed)

A 2019 Rebel will only have 3.92 gears with a GCWR of 17000lbs.

So unless you are looking at a Rebel 12 with ramboxes, you should be real close to your BH

Your 2017 should have a GVWR of 6900 but the new rebel will have 7100, so it will be 200lbs more already.

So. Need the specifics of what Rebel you are looking at, but if it is a 5th gen...it will tow more than 6400 lbs

Under Tech specs:

Maximum Trailering Capacity: 6460

By comparison, I have a 2017 6'4" BH, 3.21 gears, and mine's rated at 8000.

Not really looking to buy...just struck me as odd.

those specs are completely wrong.

Look at the GVWR...6800

The 2019 is 6900 for 2wd and 7100 for 4wd.

That would be why the towing seems odd as well

And it says combined 11900

GCWR is 13900 for 3.21 and 17000 for 3.92

Rebel only comes with 3.92

So that truck should say 7100 GVWR and 17000 GCWR

6800 and 11900 to get 6400 means that 7100 and 17000 would get 11500 using their number. So yeah, more than your big horn although the Rebel will be less than 11500 but more than 8000
