Went in today for an Oil Change - they have a recall, that is not listed as such, but dealers have been told to take care of it.

Only applies to the trucks with roof mounted clearance/marker lights...they are known to leak, and therefore get water into the headliner. They replaced all 5 of mine - i guess with a better or good gasket???

Anyway, as it doesn't come up on the MOPAR site - thought I would let ya'll know.

Don't know if this is applicable to ONLY the 2018 models....

Hi black-betty,

The clearance liamp repair you're referring to is an RRT, or Rapid Response Transmittal, and is not a recall (which is why you're not seeing it on the Mopar recall website). An RRT is a type of VIN-specific service action, which is also released as a TSB. I have included the TSB information below for your reference and for anyone else who may be experiencing this concern!

NUMBER: 23-014-18 REV. A
GROUP: 23 Body
DATE: April 20, 2018

SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The vehicle may have been built with cab clearance lamps that may fail prematurely.

Wow - just wow....Jennifer, thanks for the reply, I am a first time FCA buyer and life long TATA (Land Rover) owner...and never, and I mean NEVER have I ever had an interaction with an employee of that company on an enthusiasts forum. (I am on the largest Land Rover Forum with over 12yrs & 13K posts to my name).... In fact quite the opposite - they disregard the enthusiasts as they are more focused on just selling vehicles to people who can afford them and move on to the next sale.

I am extremely impressed that FCA supports enthusiast owners like this - and just reinforces my choice to but this RAM....I am thrilled!

So just today I got a set of OEM clearance lights. How can I tell if they’re included in the recall?

There is no recall its more like a service bulletin, some trucks that came with them from the factory had the screws too tight and caused the lense to crack. If you have a new set just install them and don't over tighten the screws.

My bad, I knew it wasn’t a recall but yet I still called it that. Early day yesterday with a 8 year old (but well worth every minute of it).

Thanks for the info about why they crack, and I’ll be sure not to overtighten them!

I think the guy that tightened the screws is the same one that tightens the oil filters lol

Seriously though, I installed the same kit and I haven't had any issues.

I was nervous too but I would rather do it myself than have the dealer do it

Had the cracks in a couple right away, 5 replaced last year, cracks back in a couple again around or below screw holes. RTV on screw holes and still water wicks up from bottom.

I don’t have a long term test but I installed my own 03/18 and mine are fine. I don’t have any condensation, cracks or any issues whatsoever. I park outside in the Houston Texas weather too so they see lots of rain and temps up to 100 in the summer. The kit has some small plastic washers for the screws, make sure you use them per the instructions.

Dealer tech had installed my replacement ones. When I checked where the new leaks came from didn't appear they over tightened them.
I'll find out if they made any improvements to the lenses next time I've got to go into dealer.
Ditto on the weather, in Pearland, TX
