No they are not using the same CP4 they are now replacing them with the CP3.So, Im looking into filing a class action lawsuit after receiving a recall notice from FCA. The issue being that FCA knew this pump had a failure problem and has been slow to resolve it. Their solution at the moment is to replace the pump that has failed with the EXACT same pump, which is currently on backorder or in very short supply. Not to mention it will also eventually and inevitably fail again.
Chrysler does not have a completely new redesigned pump, nor do they have a solution to reassure its customers that the replacement pump will prevent this from happening again. I dont plan to be one of their guinea pigs to find out either.
The pump on my eco diesel failed with 24k mi. on May 19th 2022, they had my truck 30 days and replaced it with the exact same parts. On June 25th 2022, the day I picked up my truck a representative from the Stallantis sent a message to inform the Service Manager about the impending recall. I have a copy of this transmisson, and FCA has had well over a year to find a solution. So, not to drag this out but if I were you I would demand they buyback your newly purchased truck. Its not worth the risk of injury or death to you, your family or the innocent person driving behind you who couldnt stop in time to avoid hitting a broken down truck due to a fuel pump that failed while hauling you family with your 5th wheel.
A lawyer will be happy to take your $$ and then tell you there is nothing they can do because FCA is already addressing the issue.
