Hello all,

How difficult of a job is it, to replace the recirculation door actuator on a 2011 2500? What all had to be removed to gain access to it?

Thanks!!
Kevin

Remove your Lower & then Upper glove compartment doors

It has been awhile, but either the Lower or Upper Glove Compartment has a Phillips screw in the bottom center of the glove compartment

Once the glove compartments are removed
use a flash light to look at the side of the HVAC Unit

I believe that you may be able to watch the recirculation door work, once the glove compartments are removed

Using the lever that is attached to the actuator, you can feel & hear the door move

Isn't that one that requires the dash to removed to get to it?

GTYankee, Thank you!! Hemi395, from what I have learned today, if it's just the actuator, they can finagle it without having to remove the dash but if the recirc door / housing has to be removed then yeah, that's the whole dash.

It's unbelievable how in-depth of a job it is to get to the HVAC system on these trucks.

When it comes to the 4th Gen Rams, 2009 - 2018 maybe more.
4 actuators can be accessed quite easily, by removing the glove compartments or the radio center stack

From what i understand, if you have a duel zone HVAC, then there is a 5 actuator between the HVAC Box & the firewall

A Radiator & Air Conditioning Shop, or the dealership, will have a computerized software that can be hooked up to the OBD2 connector.
That software can control all the actuators, i believe that it can also tell when the doors move

Thermometers can tell the rest of the story

( when i say A Radiator & Air Conditioning Shop, i mean a specialty shop )
................................................................

3rd Gen HVAC systems ...
getting to 2 of the actuators is harder
you can see them, but replacing them is an issue
