So this last oil change I decided to try the Redline to help with the hemi tick given the success of some others I've read about...Oil change done and my motor sounds worse than before...thoughts?

Can you provide a few more details about your change ? Weight? How many quarts? Filter brand? Type of redline?

All the standard stuff, redline full synthetic, 5w-20, 7 quarts, Royal purple filter. I've ran only Royal purple since my first change that could have something to do with it.

Also, oil level is smack dab in the middle on the 'safe zone'.

I sure hope not, I too have ran RP since my first oil change and I've bought into the hype of Amsoil so I'm going to give it a shot.
Your tick sound worse? Burla will jump in soon, he is this forums oil expert. If anyone knows it will be him.

I have redline in my 07 with a mahl filter (probably not the best?) And I still have a tick till the engine is at temperature. My tick is nothing like some examples I have heard though. Did you use the redline oil with a blue label?

I have always ran Amsoil in mine, but I, too, was fixing to swap to Redline because of Burla. I hope there is a good reason for yours being louder, and not just the Redline. That would be disappointing to me. This 12 truck has always been louder than my 07 is. And it also idles rougher. That is why I was gonna try Redline.

Maybe I need to drive it for a day first, this result was just idling cold in my garage after the change

Curious as to the octane you use for your gas. I've read a lot of people using 87 have the tick and then it goes away when they jump up to 89, 91, or 93. I've never heard the all knowning HEMI tick before. Either my truck doesn't have it, or I don't know what to listen for.

I use 91, it is the highest I can get here. Also because of Bully Dog set to Premium. But even without that I put in 91 because it just plain ran better on it.

Could be some truth in that as when idling cold my hemi sounds a little quieter on gas than it does propane. But I personally didn't notice a change between regular gas and a premium gas like shell vpower.

That could have something to do with your BD premium tune and octane level.
I got a loud tick from running the BD on premium tune and 91 (the highest I can get in cali).
The premium tune should be run on 93, not 91.
If I was you, I would return the BD to stock or at least regular tune, and see if the ticking goes away.

the redline kepted my tick at bay for maybe 1000 miles - then it just came back. I run amsoil signature series now and all is good. Running a 93 hemifever tune.

Blue label is the right stuff, in my Hemi as I have stated many times it took 500 or so miles for the Moly to set in. Drive 500 and maybe even 1000 miles and give it a chance. Thanks for the report, glad to hear it when it helps or when it doesn't, but at least give the moly time to work on the metal to metal contact. If you go 1000 miles and it is still rough, I would still try different things to quiet the tick. When you get there I will give you some thoughts, I will feel sorry ya if this doesn't help, but we aren't there just yet.

Interesting fact is now I am changing my oil today because when I went to conventional oil just for a flush, the engine is getting louder. So back to redline again, will report back again how the second redline change is doing.

Ive driven over a 1k miles and it's very similar to amsoil. My tick is pretty tame compared to some and once at full temp its gone. At that point the engine runs like a dream. At the next change im going to try a k&n filter over the mahl filter im running now.
