Has any one switched over to Redline 5w30, 5w20, 0w30, 5w40, 0w40 below 20k miles and made it to 150K, 175K or 200K+ miles with no engine related problems?

I switched to RL 5w-30 at 10k miles. But the truck is only at 25k now so not really what you're asking for LOL. But I will report that the 3 to 5 second knock that I would occasionally hear at start up when the truck was new has totally disappeared.

5w30 but the forum has many reports that 5w30 can leave cold piston slap. So in snow states the appropriate formula is 0w30, but the problem is redline changed this formula less to our liking. If you have hemi tick, 5w30 is the best known thing, even start up tick like we are ready heard here. If no hemi tick is present and you live in snow area, 5w20 is the safer move. Now you can still get cold piston slap, but usually much much less then 5w30. No I'm not a crack pot, this was an accumulation of information over the last decade. If you don't get cold piston slap on 5w30, easy choice, but if you get it you can make a change.

I had hemi tick changed at 3500 miles, I don't drive it much anymore but still tick free with no issues I think 34k on the ticker.

I started using Redline 5W-30 at 500 miles in my 14,it had 50,000 miles and over 700 nitrous dragstrip passes on it when i sold it about a month ago,and it still pumped 218/220 psi across all 8 cylinders and was dead silent . I put a Greene cam in it / replaced the lifters with what most guys call the Hellcat lifters /replaced the MDS solenoids with the block off plugs and upped the idle rpm to 750 rpm, when the truck was still basically new.The truck got the crap beat out of it,as i didn't baby it,and was on the dragstrip from when it had less then 400 miles on it. The day it came home,my wife drove it ,and she was never under 80 mph on the 130 mile trip home from the dealer, and found out it was speed limited at 106 mph, which she thought was stupid, lol

We all know about Redline killing the Hemi tick. Just want to hear who been running it the longest and how the long term wear is on the engine. Hence I would like to see if anyone have made it to 150K+.

Only people that dont read the oil thread use 5w20

Good one, I use Cenex 5-20 and no noises at all. The Redline
thing is just a good way to spend too much on oil, oil is oil.
I am a farmer, and buy my oil in bulk, not by the quart.
Usually around 100 gallons per year.

maybe ask question in 4 gen, or even in redline thread, more of a chance to get this answer then in 5 gen just based on time it takes to get 150k miles. many of us rarely read 5 gens.

2016 Ram 1500 Hemi. Nope. I get whatever 5w20 full syn that’s on sale along with the best quality filter that's on sale, try to adhere to a 5k OCF schedule. 145 k trouble free miles. Do the Blackstone Labs submissions, all is good. If it attains or exceeds OEM specs, get what you want.

Some fortunate folks blessed with a quiet Hemi can seemingly run rendered yak fat (bought in bulk of course) and not battle tick. For those with tick, though, the answer is pretty clear.

Question for you guys running 5w-30 don't you get a warning on the dash telling you ( i don't remember the exact wording) that your running the wrong type of oil or check the type of oil your using? I have a 2006 Charger that shows that once in awhile but goes away. I have been using 5w-20 since then. My New engine in my 2014 1500 Ram I have been using Valvoline 5w-20. I have a 3 year warranty on the new 5.7 HEMI ( Still have the tick ) . If I change to 5w-30 wouldn't that void the warranty on the engine?

It's usually only the early hemi's that have that issue,up to about 2010. Even Ma Mopar says 5W-30 is okay to use, read the note at the bottom, this is from the big 700 page printed manual for my 14.
