when I floor it it stays in 1st gear until it redlines without shifting into 2nd. I have read that this is a problem with the computer with my model, where could I get this fixed?

Have you tried a tuner where you can change the shift points?

I don't have a tuner, but a buddy of mine does, what would you recommend I set the shift points to?

I believe truckin said a while back going above 6.2k with stock springs and push rods is like playing Russian roulette. so I'd keep it around 5.8k max.

Is it just roving up before going? Tires spinning and not getting traction? What rpm range is it shifting at before going? If there is something wrong with the shifts now it may not do much help to add a tuner until its fixed or you might end up with more problems

Where have you read that this could be a PCM problem to this "model"?
Does it flash straight to redline when WOT before you start moving or does it move up through the mph before bouncing off the limiter.

Would you be kind to post a video of this so we can get a visual? Could be quite a few things which truckin has mentioned.

+1 here.
Fix the issue, dont try to mask it it or band-aid it.

What is the rear gear ratio in the differential and what size tires are you running? Those things look giant. Did you buy the truck used?

From the video it kind of looks like you didn't give it time to completely wind out and shift. Any vehicle is going to pull hard to the redline and hold for a second and then slam into second if you don't take your foot off the floor. I could be wrong but I'd say try holding it for a few secs. You let off as soon as it got near the red.

Something is wrong, in the video he is at 40mph at 5600 rpms. 3.55 gears with 32" tires (fairly typical) should be 4473 rpms at 40mph

I dont see anything wrong with that shift.

Just for giggles i would get a GPS just to verify that the mph is matching the speedo. Since you dont have a programmer loaded and have aftermarket tires/rims then your speedo maybe off.

Convert, for now.
Engine
small
If you 'think' its the computer, disconnect the battery for a few minutes and re-attach, should reset it.

Good catch with the tire size being off

Just curious though, what rpm are you "redlining" at? And what speed are you at when it "redlines"?

Looked ok to me on the RPM. If your looking to get more RPM safely swap to 6.1 springs and while your there toss in a bump stick.
