One other thing to keep in mind is some dealers don’t want to do these installs period and others want to do them all themselves and not allow the owners to do hands on stuff. I was also told that Chrysler now is leaning towards not adding codes if the vehicle didn’t come originally equipped? This info came from more than one dealer source but so far in my case it hasn’t been an issue except for the homelink on my RAM? For some reason adding that code to my truck is a big no no?

Do you even need a code to add homelink? I swapped out my overhead console to add the homelink buttons/module, and didn't require any codes or programming with AlfaODB, it just worked strait away when I plugged it in...

Yeah it's interesting b/c I was there asking them about an install price, ie full install. She (service advisor) called someone in the back and they came back with VIN not compatible. Not sure if she called parts or some other dept.

I got a response from the ebay dealer/seller (SteveWhiteMotors) - they didn't specifically say my vin was compatible, but did link me to the kit I needed to buy. Which was the same listing I used to ask about the VIN lol. So I don't know if that means they are saying my VIN will work, or if they are just pointing me to the 2016 kit.

I think to get this sorted I'm going to have to go back to my dealer and find out why they say my VIN is not compatible. Or even call the other RAM dealer across town and see what they say.

So back at the dealer, went to the parts counter instead of going to service dept, had them look up my VIN and they say there's no reason the Mopar kit won't work. So last time there must have been mistake in communication or vin number or who knows. They actually offered me a great price on the kit, of course the install cost is the killer. Going over the instructions and notes to decide which way I'm going to go.

I tried running mine thru the canbus and most likely that is what’s killing my modules. I wanted the EVIC display to work with the homelink so, next time I take that thing down I think I’m going to disconnect the canbus and see if it works?

Depending on your skills this is an easy upgrade or a pita. Like others have said you can simply unbolt the rear seat and slide it forward instead of taking it all the way out. My RAM had the hood harness already there so I didn’t have to mess with that green connector. The modules and antenna extension is pretty straight forward. Leave the old module hooked up intel you get to the dealer, just mount the new one and leave all the stuff open and accessible for the tech to do the flash. That’s the only way your new remotes will work. Once they do the old remotes won’t work so keep it simple and all be fine.

is it true you have to reprogram this unite (DB3) if you disconnect your battery or your batter dies for some reason? or has Directed come up with a firmware update to fix this problem? and has Directed fixed the issue with the key fob messing up at times after programming with the fob?
