Power steering went out yesterday on my '97 1500. I picked up a pump from Autozone and installed or. It works fine but sounds like a Ford. (whine at non-idle RPM). I mentioned it when I took the core back and they didn't much care. I confirmed it's lifetime warranty. Should I just tolerate it and see what happens?

I did get the air out before starting the truck though I don't have a vacuum bleeder. Used the same process I did when I replaced the steering gear.

At this point all xompenents for power steering are less than 1 month old though the gear and pump are remanufactured.

Whiny sound is usually the shaft bearing. I'd just keep an eye on the fluid color, or if you just can't stand the sound, take it back. It runs, drives, steers, as long as the fluid isn't going brown, it's working, right?
