Here's a recent issue I had with non-OEM tail light replacements. Hope you have a better experience.
Tail light signal goes out. Dash indicates same. Identify 1 of ALL of the LED's in the Tail light is flickering. (it's gotta go) So I came on here to find a aftermarket replacement because paying that amount of $ for 1 light assy is insane. Purchase recommended non-OEM. Install. Cargo light indicates it's out now. So, I replace it with a SYLVANIA LED 921 bulb. All is well but tail light is still indicating it's out. Even after replacement of (supposedly) acceptable Non-OEM part. Passenger gets out of vehicle and "Key fob has left the vehicle" comes on. No, they did not have my keys. Not even the spare. This continues to be an issue for a few weeks. Won't start immediately with Key Fob not Detected indicator coming on. After a few weeks and a visit to my shop with the Dx meter and we THINK it's the BCM going bad. But, to be sure, he cuts the 3 week backlog at the Stealership and gets the truck in. (Sorry for the long winded discussion. I'm getting to the point) Seems (with skepticism) I needed to replace the 3rd light LED with old school filament bulb. And go to an OEM tail light. So, replace those things and boom. No more "Key FOB issue" and no more "Tail light out" message.
I believe that the cause of the Key FOB issue was the LED in the cargo light. As soon as it illuminated, it cause interference with the radio from the FOB to the vehicle. Thus why it happened when I got in (lights still on) and when the Passenger left (cargo light came on) Good luck with the tail lights and keep in mind the issue I mentioned here. Took 3 weeks to figure it out.
