Quick question cause I'm not 100% certain about everything going on in truck. I have a 2014 crew cab with the Alpine audio system and my front driver's side speaker went out. I recently bought a pair of 6x9's to replace the front two with along with 2 3.5" dash speakers I'll be replacing as well. My question is should I take the rear alpine speakers that WORK and move them to the front and put the new ones in the back or just replace the front ones and leave the OEMs in the back? I ask because I have heard that the front 2 door channels don't receive full range as the back ones do and want to get the most out of the speakers I have already bought. I don't want to put the new speakers in the front if they're only going to recieve mid/low frequencies, any thoughts?

Not knowing what speakers you purchased it is hard to say

I would simply try both scenarios and see which you like best

To subjective for a definitive answer

However the speakers that has the best bass response will probably get the nod for the front doors

I’m not sure if you’ll be happy with the stick speakers after replacing the others. As already said, it’s hard to say without knowing what speakers you got. If you at least got some descent speakers, they will make the stock ones sound less then optimal. Since you got new 6x9’s they may be deeper then the stock ones so you’ll need spacers for the front doors. Upgrading your speakers is worth it and you may find yourself replacing the last two after listening to the new ones installed. Did you get 3 3.5” speakers for the dash? I believe that the alpine setup has 3 dash speakers and not just two.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas

Sorry, let me clarify. Yes, I have the 9 speaker Alpine system with the 8.4" u connect. I'm a college student on a budget so I went on crutchfield which claims to send you everything you need to install speakers. I purchased 1 pair of the pioneer ts-a692f, some 80 dollar 4 way speakers with good reviews on the website. These are one of the 7 options I had on the website that said it would fit my front door. So hopefully spacers wouldn't be an issue cause it's not included in the free installation gear I get with them. And yes I'm aware that I have 3 dash speakers, but like I said, college student... So I got 1 pair of kicker cs series 3.5" to go up there. Sorry for the confusion

Trust me if I was in the ballpark I'd replace everything lol, just was hoping on some insight on the low pass filter from the HU to the front two door speakers and would what would suit my situation best for the time being.

Put the pioneers in the back because it will utilize a full range door signal. The fronts are crossed and used as midbass. Could try them both ways, I just don't think the pioneers are sensitive enough to outperform the OEM 6x9s in midbass output with the factory amp.

all,

I installed 3 Infinity Reference X REF-3002cfx in the dash. They were a direct drop in / plug and play install using Metra 71-039C adaptors. They are much more detailed sounding and have more "sparkle" than the OEM speakers. Makes for a nice image.

Subwoofer: It was tough to find an 8" dual 2 ohm subwoofer with a shallow enough mounting depth for the factory under rear seat enclosure. The Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 fits perfect - even the holes line up. Make sure you use the gasket that comes with the woofer. Also, PROPERLY plug the hole in the bottom of the enclosure where the screw that went into the back of the factory woofer. It is 100% plug and play using a Metra 72-6514 adapter.
Definitely a cleaner tighter, more accurate bass. It "may" be a tad louder but it is much less muddy and you really 'feel' it when it hits.

The system sounds pretty good with these upgrades. I am pleased with it. Hope this info helps some of you.
