RES to RER

i have a 2009 ram 1500, it came with the RES stereo head unit with uconnect. i got my hands on a RER navigation unit from another 2009 ram laramie. does anyone know how i can go about wiring this in, 2 of the connections plug in but on the RER unit there is a 3rd connection of wires. i tried just plugging in the 2 sections and i can hear there is power but nothing is working. i do not need the navigation, i just care about getting the head unit to work

You only need the two conectors, the third one is for the backup camera and\or rear seat video.

Uconnect with the RES would need a bypass cable for the microphone mirror, or just a separate mic - try it without the gray 10 pin connector.

does your current RES 130 have a phone button ?

Most 2009 Dodge Rams with the RES 130 did not have a phone button
A few came with the phone button, they were called RESs 130

I suggest that if you don't have a microphone, buy a normal microphone that will work with the radio & install it either on the "A" Pillar almost against the Windshield, or above your right eye & forward a few inches, against the overhead console & roof liner.

( the reasoning for those two spots, is the stock Ram rear view mirror microphones are not noise cancelling & they pick up the noise from the Blower Fan in the HVAC system & they also catch the cross winds if your windows are cracked open.
Ram realized this, just read the owners manual
It reads close the windows & turn down the fan
to use the microphone

It does not upgrade with an OEM radio though
