Got an 04 2500 and all the black plastic trim pieces around the truck are super sun faded and look like garbage. I want to somehow restore them back to new and was wondering if anyone has done it or has some experience with this?

Would it be worth it just to buy all new pieces? I would need to restore the Bed rail covers, both bumper step pads, hood vent under the windshield, and both mirrors.

Thanks in advance!

I know of two good options. One is Mother's Back to Black and the other is black plastic bumper and trim spray paint.

But before you do anything clean the plastic with a magic eraser.

I have used both of the above on my 03 Ram 1500 QC. As stated, prep is the key to a good outcome. They both worked good. In Cent Cal they need to be done about every 3 years.

Solution Finish, Carpro Dlux, and other trim coatings will do the job, just need to clean the trim properly before applying.

Don't bother with Mother's Back to Black and other dressing type products, they won't last long at all especially if you see rain often.

I've been wanting to try CarPro DLUX but I've had such great luck with regular CQuartz UK 3.0. As mentioned above, prep is key. I power wash them after letting them soak in suds, then wipe them down with alcohol before applying ceramic. A little goes such a long way.

As easy to use as the you tube videos? Think I'm going to order some and give it a try.

Not sure, haven’t seen the YouTube videos. Comes in wipes, just wipe it on, be sure to wear gloves, lots of reviews on amazon

This is what I use, it last about six months, 15$ for 5 pads and usually takes two pads to complete the job.

It's by far my favorite. I think it last longer than solution finish and easier to apply. Just keep it away from water before it dries.

Ive mothers back to black with good results. Ive heard mixed reviews about the Cerakote wipes for trim. What I've noticed is if your trim has texture then the results are great. If the trim is smooth to the touch then is has a lot of streaks.

Late to the game here but I find that to get the trim back in shape, before you apply the protection I use Mothers Back to Black Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner. After that I try a bunch of stuff but in my area (Sacramento CA) nothing lasts very long. The secret is to use the brush that they supply, it seems to work on my Ram and Patriot

Old auto body painter here. I always used heat. I got all of the plastics on my sons avalanche to look like brand new with a heat gun. Took me a weeks of time after work. If I still worked in a shop. I'd have grabbed the torch with a rose bud on it. LoL
Clean the **** out of it first making sure there are no stains left on it. Don't touch or rub it while it's hot.
