So I ran my reverse lights to a set of LED lights in the bumper AND I also have a switch to turn them on manually when not in reverse.

It worked when I first tested it but lately, I've been getting bulb out errors and no reverse light comes on at all. I've had to turn them on manually in reverse.

So last night I hooked up two resistors I had in the garage, and it didn't fix anything so I disconnected them. Then I tried the lights again and only one of them worked in reverse (no bulb out), and the switch still worked when turning both of them on.

I feel like I need to connect SOMETHING inline for everything to work right, but I don't know what. Any help would be appreciated!

possible ground issue. check resistance across the ground side of the circuit, should be a few tenths of an ohm, with less than .1 ideally.

Double check your splices / connections too, one may have gotten loose

need to figure out how to use this cheapy meter to check resistance. I just connected the negative from the LEDS to the negative that was running to the reverse bulb and the positive spliced in the same way.

Now I have a bulb out error again, didn't do anything different other than heat shrink the connections together that were just with electrical tape

Sounds like a bulb issue with the Canbus

I'm not sure if you meant this as a joke or if I don't understand your response. Isn't that exactly what the bulb out error message means? Also, there are no bulbs as mentioned above... they are LED lights. (the ones below in the bumper)

No, I assumed you swapped out the bulbs to led ones. ... as I did on mine, I haven't had any error codes or a light going out, no resistors or anything ..... 9006 is the bulb size I used, if I remeber correctly

So...everything worked fine before and now it doesn't?

Check all connections(on lights and switch)
Check grounds
Check for burnt led's (it happens)
Swap out led's to find faulty culprit

Incorrect. In the first post, I explained what was happening and unfortunately, your troubleshooting steps won't be applicable since they work fine at the switch, thus eliminating the troubleshooting of a bad switch or bad LEDs.

The third paragraph explains the remaining troubles and additional details that you might have missed. Hope you have any other suggestions!

Not many have done this setup so it's likely uncharted waters for most.

If you've done everything others have suggested as well as myself to which none have solved the problem you may have to start from ground zero.

Trace all your ****, disconnect everything if need be. It sucks but might be your only option.

Fair enough. It might be something loose. I hit the switch today and the switch illumination flickered on and then off again. Might just need to redo the wiring behind the switch because I know the bumper wiring is solid.

So I'm still having issues and can't figure out what's wrong.

Reverse Light Setup:
1. Factory reverse harness cut off.
2. Each LED black wire hooked up to the reverse harness black wire.
3. Each LED red wire hooked up to the reverse harness non-black wire.

That's it for the reverse lights, getting a bulb out error and reverse parking sensor error.

LED Manual Turn On
1. Both LED pods red wire have a wire connecting them together behind the bumper. This wire runs to the accessory wire of the 4 wire relay. (Wondering if this is causing an issue since both sides are wired together)
2. The power wire of the 4 wire relay is connected to the battery with a 20a fuse inline.
3. The ground wire of the 4 wire relay is connected to the metal ground, with several other working accessory grounds.
4. The switch wire of the 4 wire relay is connected to the switch prong of the 3 prong toggle switch.
5. The 12v prong of the 3 prong toggle switch is wired directly to the battery, no fuse inline.
6. The ground of the 3 prong toggle switch is wired to a metal piece of the body that is welded to the frame.

Everything seems solid, I've used proper connectors and heat shrink where applicable and I really can't figure out the problem. The switch doesn't even light up and come on and the LEDs obviously don't come on.

Current issues:
1. Bulb out error and lights not coming on when in reverse.
2. Lights not coming on when manually toggled as well as manual toggle switch not illuminating when switched.

Help!!

This is a bad switch I determined and in my previous post, posted with the assumption I had a working switch

Update: It seems the lights work when I shift to reverse. Going to replace the switch tomorrow and see if I can get it back to normal. Normal being everything works, just bulb out errors.

Still trying to research how to fix it.

If your using the factory reverse taillights to power the LEDs in the bumper. Try using the reverse wire(center pin) from the 7 pin trailer brake connector instead. The added load might be messing with the CANbus monitoring.
