Does the V0 under map database need version 0? Is there a way to update that?

That is strictly for Navigation & the Ram Nav Maps are very costly

Use your cell phone for navigation, it has the same maps & is FREE

BY the way, there are several free d/l sources for your smart phone Apps

Then i think that you can mirror that app to your 8.4 screen

The WAZE app seems to be the most popular, the trouble with it is that it sends everyone around a detour the exact same way & causes major traffic jambs along that detour route. It is sometimes faster just to stay on the original route.

So to go to 18.45.01 it looks like its the same file for all years and works on the Canadian trucks???
I found this from lak8 'The files worked on my Canadian radio. Just wanted to mention"

Yep, the v18.45.01 update in this instance is the same file and covers USA and Canada.

Last I heard from @Ricks Ram , the latest map database/update is up to v14 or higher.... So that's very old.

Map updates hardly need doing, the roads don't change much, just the businesses like Starbucks, Jack in the Box, etc.

With my Ram, i update the maps no sooner than every 3 years

Except for new sub divisions, how many brand new roads do you know of, that are newer than 3 years old.
I don't own a smart phone, so i do the Ram updates, but i think that i am going to start relying on a Garmin or a like device with Lifetime maps

The maps in my 5th gen 2019 Laramie with 12" UAX radio already have errors /incorrect roads in my area...

Just depends on where you live and if you like to use it and it's integration with the rest of the truck & the turn by turn in the EVIC cluster.

That is the main reason that i want to update to version 18.45.01

My current version has really messed up my navigation, sometimes i will be in a place & the map icon will show me as being 20 miles away, but other times it is correct.

The update is suppose to correct that & a few other things

The map shows my truck icon as being several miles away
The newer 18.45.** version corrects that & some other things

I dont think you can share map update files.

I'm pretty sure they are tied to an activation code?

Yea, that's what I'm finding. May have to try that Ebay link next year when we start to travel again. I like having the big screen that my old eyes can see but use the phone as a backup.

If you want Navigation, buy something like a Garmin with Lifetime Maps & Traffic

If you have to find addresses every day of the week, you might consider a unit that you can speak to.
Trying to push buttons or the touch screen is irritating & the suction cup comes loose way too often, but they are OK if you have a co-pilot

Can you download something like Google Maps App onto your cell phone & then mirror that map onto your radio screen ?
If so, how is it done.

Not sure what Radio you currently have in your Truck but you would need one with Android Auto if you have an Android OS based phone or Apple Car play for the IOS based phones.

I have watched someone with a smart phone plug their phone USB cable to my radios USB port & they were controlling my radio, their music was coming through my speakers

It does work as far as I can tell although I don't have a running truck so I cant get out of the shop to test the NAV.
I don't know why I did not see this before and am currently downloading it to try.

Thanks! Just did the update. Super smooth process took about 50 minutes, the truck never shut off when it was done. Mine just said it had to validate update and than said remove usb. It added a apps button I never had before, themes, and some more options for GPS settings. I also noticed the GPS voice is different.

I'm gonna do the last update this week. Thanks for the help guys.

If you enable music share on both of the phones you can both be connected to the unconnected. I just found out It works with phone calls also which was kinda cool.

For mirroring the phone, this works great

Just picked up a 2021 Ram 1500 etorque Big Horn, when i connect my phone via usb the volum gets distored above 25 and woul not sound loud at all at 35 but if i unplugged the usb cord all goes back to normal any idea?
