Hey Marshall, does your truck make that noise when moving the shifter like in the 2nd video?
I am driving the red 2014 now , after a Chev guy wrecked my 2010 with his head up his ass while texting while I was stopped at road construction. I really like that truck, but no I never had any funny noise .
only problem I had was trying to get it to shift out of 4wd low, it could take a bit of fiddling the odd time I used it, maybe it was just sticky from no use , low range.
4wd hi or auto was no problem.
The one I have now has the 8 speed.

Re the video, it sounds like you are banging the lever against the side of the case, if you did it slow would be better, BTW , pushing the button is what releases the lever so push it with out moving the lever, does it do the same?
I had forgot , do you need to push the brake to shift, have to with the 8 speed, but now I can't remember , I know you have to push the button on the lever.
I just automatically step on the brake when shifting anything.

There was a recall for whatever year/vin# trucks for a shift issue...on mine(a '10,guessing same tranny but not sure) it was in the column (mine is column shift)so I dont know if that would/could be the same for console shift...something about the vehicle could randomly shift out of park without the brake being pressed while running.
No idea about the clicking noise though.

Hardracer, no recall on this one.
Markabby, thanks I’ll give it a try.
Marshall, sorry to hear about the wreck. But again the sound is coming from the ignition switch not from me banging the side of the shifter frame.

I believe I now know the answer.
It’s got to be the solenoid that locks the fobic in place.

Thanks Dusty, I didn’t see your reply until just now for some reason. I’m also thinking that a new cable is needed and that the fobic locking solenoid is confused as to where the shifter really is because of it.

I can't shake what was mentioned earlier

I wonder if when the Previous Owner raised the vehicle, that they may have stretched the transmission cable & tweaked some thing(s)

You can easily check your theory about the WIN module, ( ignition switch )

2 screws hold the panel under the steering column, just let it hang down.
That gives you access to the 4 fasteners, that hold the WIN module in place, if you would like to remove it.

You could reach the WIN module while it is still in its place, then Start the vehicle.

I would think that you could feel the ignition moving slightly, using just your fingers.
............................................................................
If that is not where the noise is coming from

Remove the cover of the Floor Console
Next, remove the fascia surrounding the Radio, there is 2 screws under the sun glass holder above the radio.
If the truck has a 115 VAC fixture, there is a hidden screw holding it in place.
...................................................................
I am not sure how the 4wheel knob comes off ..

But then the center fascia should come off, IF it is needed

I had her truck for a few hours yesterday. Busy time of year and all.
I only had time to inspect the shifter cable and it looked perfect to my untrained eye. All anchor points were tight, no slop in the bushings. What I didn’t have time to do was disconnect it at both ends and check the feel of the movement. I was really hoping to find a broken or worn out bushing but no luck. GTyankee I don’t think the lift would have affected the cable in any way.

Thanks pscarbor, but the “ratcheting sound” as you put it comes from the ignition switch (WIN module) and not from the tranny or center console area. How could that be the pawl?
Pawl goes up and down (or back and forth if you prefer); pulls the cable back and forth; pulls the shifter. You know, like the old childhood rhyme, "Anklebone's connected to the leg bone; leg bone's connected to the..."
