Roof rack on a RAM!!

This is a thread on wat it takes and my progression on installing a roof rack on any RAM!!

First you'll need the correct parts for the rail system the basket sits on.
I went with Thule.....

Fit Kit #1528 (you'll need these for perfect fitment on the roof)

480 style feet (these hold the load bars and secure the fit kit to the roof)

Load bars LB58 (these are 58" bars that the basket sits on, they can be cut to proper length if too long for your liking)

And last is the basket. There are 2 to choose from......
Thule- MOAB
Yakima- load warrior
I went with the Yakima BC it was free lol

Now for mock up pics. i'm still waiting on the fit kit, feet, and rail, but I had to set the basket up to see wat she would look like......

I do plan to fit 4 fog lights on the front and 2 aux lights on the back of the rack.
It just sucks BC one if the boxes was in new orleans when the hurricane hit.......

Neat mod, from the front view I wish the rack was wider. What do you plan on using the rack for besides for lighting, I mean you have a big bed...

I do wish it was wider, maybe a day of cutting and welding could fix that

Well I found out that having a Gf, and goin camping for a weekend included ALOT of stuff lol we would have the bed and the cab slammed with things needed. Hence the extra storage with a rack.
And also I plan to get a full recovery kit, highlift jack, come-along, and other things need for a little offroad excursion we embark on (without the need for 4 wheel drive) hahahaha


Oh I almost forgot to add that this rack will work on 2nd gen roofs also BC my basket has the extension piece. The original basket is 20" shorter and can fit on a extended cab 2nd gen ram.

thats the first thing that came to my mind! I plan to build a custom one at some point and cant wait to throw a big boy up there.
