I have a 2015 ram 1500 4x4 with a RCX 6 in lift. Purchased this way from the dealer, so of course they used the cheap lift that uses the OEM struts with spacers. The ride quality sucks. Very rough ride. To improve this, I am looking at adding the N3 struts from RCX, but at $279/ea. Is there a better option here? Ive seen mixed reviews on those struts.

Anyone have this issue addressed already that can provide some insight and recommendation? Thanks in advance.

Ah.. I just confirmed that with RC and you are correct. That does help a little bit. Still curious if that is my best option to provide the biggest improvement in ride quality

B1gj0n44,

My truck is a 2012, but I also have a RCX lift, and am still running the stock struts. I’m planning to switch to aftermarket struts when these need replaced (thinking bills for the adjustable height).

I also bought my truck from a dealership, already lifted. I found that properly adjusting the tire air pressure made a huge improvement to the ride. The dealership I bought from had the tires inflated to the max pressure.
I “chalk tested” the tires, and was able to considerably reduce the pressure, and still keep a good contact pattern. All I have to do now, is remember to increase the pressure before I tow or haul.

On a side note, I have not yet been able to 100% determine if I have a 4” or 6” lift installed. Would you be willing/able to either measure the strut spacer on your lift, or take a picture showing the front suspension(control arm angles).

Thanks,
Muddy

JB1 - I have Falken wildpeak at3's at about 38 lbs (35in tire).

Muddy - I will see if i can get those pics sometime this weekend.

I assumed that since the lift is using the spacer over the stock strut, that the rough ride is coming from the strut being overextended, and that putting a strut on that is made for the geometry that the truck is at now iwth the lift that would help the ride.

Not saying that new struts won’t help, but the lift simply spaces the suspension farther down from the frame. The strut itself doesn’t get “extended” at all, the upper mount is just lowered.
The strut should function exactly as it did prior to the lift install.

@8732cuts Check me on this, but somewhere in my research I read that the rough country shocks mount Barrel up. Meaning your rear shocks are installed upside down. I’m not 100% but check your paperwork that came with them it should have the appropriate mounting direction in it. Very nice truck by the way[/QUOTE]
