Rust

I want to fix the rust spots on my truck. What power tool do you guys recommend palm sander? a grinder? I've never done this before any help would be grateful.

Have you looked into POR-15 at all? You can weld on top of it when its dry. I know a bunch of guys who just POR-15 their entire truck lol

Show us a pic of the rust spots. Are you planning on repainting the panel afterwards, or just addressing the spot?

Right now just getting rid of the rust I dint got the money for a paint job

The rust is inside the doors on the bottom edge and along the bottom front corner where the body meets the bed

If it's just surface rust it can be sanded out and taken care of easy...but if it's bad, it will need to be cut out.

Do grinder or palm sander. A belt sander is to big

i've got some on the leader edge on the side of my rear bumber, it looks like it' just starting out, so I'll sand that edge down and paint it.

I guess I'll buy a palm sander. What grit paper should I use?

80 grit paper will work..

Welcome to RF. This thread is a couple years old so i think we may have progressed to a 50 grit solution if it was left unattended, Just Kidding!
