Broke down an finally got a intake for the truck. Was goona stick to doing all exterior upgrades first before jumping into the go fast goodies but couldn't pass up the deal I came across at Carlisle All Truck Nationals. After getting home on Sunday I went right to work ripping the old one off an putting the new one one. All I can say is that I love it along with the truck. Motor has a nice deep mean tone to it now. Thanks for all the threads on here that helped me make up my mind on the intake.

There is nothing like the fit and finish of the S&B in these engine bays--looks like OEM only better!

I'm really liking mine. I wish they had a performance dry filter. That would be my only negative.

Man those things are gorgeous. Much more clean and sexy looking than the Vararam IMO

They do. Its a disposable or cleanable dry filter.
S&B Cold Air Intake 09-13 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi - Dry Filter

Talk to Matt, I'm sure you can buy the filter by itself.

What..huh? Mine is dry, but paper/disposable. How is it "cleanable"? Sure, you might be able to tap the dust out, but it won't last forever. I was wanting a performance dry -- like aFe Pro Dry S, AEM DryFlow, Airaid Synthamax, etc. -- that one can wash/vacuum/etc. Does S&B have that now?

Yes, S&B has a dry performance filter as well. It functions as well as the oiled, just it needs to be replaced instead of being reused.

did anyone els have a small gap opening along the top where the clear cover sits? i was thinking about just getting some adhesive foam to seal it up that way theres no way it can suck warm engine bay air, thinking the bolt holes are a little to close together causeing the cover to flex upwards a bit

I do as well. I think I may do the same and put thee foam rubber seal along the edge of the cover.

So that is not yes that is no. He means and I would also like this a AEM Dryflow filter or equivalent. Something that is washable and reusable but does not need to be oiled. They filter better and are way less mess when cleaning. I have a drop in one and I love it but sure would like one with S&B or Vararam setup. I am over the oil ones and I have never liked buying the 12,000 mile ones over and over certainly would not want that expense added to a $299 upgrade.

I would imagine you could use the AEM filter as long as the dimensions matched, but I don't know. I am only familiar with the reusable oiled filters. I'll have to check out the AEM myself. That would be an ideal set up.
