I have a 2021 Big Horn Night Edition. I live in Colorado (Car theft capital of the US). I had a dealer tell me that I didn't need any third party anti-theft system because my truck has the Sentry Key theft deterrent system....
I looked into the Ravel system and was told that my remote start would not work with this system. What are you guys doing for anti-theft.
Thanks,
JW

I park in my garage, and live in a small town!! Haha
In addition, I carry zero deductible comp insurance. Covers theft...including items in the truck. I think I would rather it get stolen and never found than to have it beat up with someone trying to get into it and not be successful. Will the anti-theft device manufacturer cover damages from an attempted theft?

Hide a battery battery disconnect. , hide a push relay ;). But wont stop them from scanning your key... lol...

Im personally putting in a hidden battery disconnect in my Rat Rod, a push relay and a RFI ID ignition. Since it will be parked outside.

Either way they can just use a tow truck like when they stole my dad diesel from Costco... You could see people just watching on the cctv and they even had a guy pretending it was his truck, as he was able to open it with the FOD. So It didnt raise any suspicion. We stayed only 15 minutes in Costco picking up my glasses.

Full Insurance is 2500$ y here, So I just have liability its 403$ this year. went up from 358 last year. . Been doing this for 8 years now. That 16K I saved . :favorites37:

I installed the JW2 Innovations, No-splice kill switch harness.

I park in the small barn shown in my avatar and live in the country but regularly visit a city where theft of cars and trucks a very popular.

I sleep better and am much more comfortable leaving my truck in the city while knowing that most thieves will never defeat my Start button bypass.

I was watching GMA one morning years ago. The guest was an ex-pro auto thief out of NYC. This was back in the day before a bad person couldn't profit from book deals, movie deals, etc.

This guy had gone to prison in Sing-Sing, IIRC. He did his time, got out, and wrote a book regarding all things about having one's car stolen. He was an intelligent and articulate fella to say the least.

He answered many questions asked by the Host, but the one that really sticks in my memory is this: "Is there any way to absolutely secure one's car so as to NOT have it stolen?". To which he replied: "If someone puts out an order for a particular car by year, make, model, etc., then no. If I get an order for a car, I'll get it in spite of normal security things such as an alarmed vehicle, garage, or guard animals". He went on to say that the closest thing to making a car theft proof was to put it up on cinder blocks and remove the wheels, and disable the engine from starting; but that he had overcome even those limits at times.

Scary, eh?

I park my vehicle with the wheel turned all the way one direction, then use the Club. As far as a battery kill switch on many different current cars with DOIP, CAN/BUS FD, and other electronic dependent entry/ latches, that is a bad idea, not to mention interrupting I/M monitoring.

Realizing that we can only attempt to thwart or prevent, I hope the potential mouth breathing **** thief will be too lazy to deal with the Club.

going to revive this thread as I have just bought a 2024 longhorn. has anyone with the keyless entry tried to just put a switch in line with the break pedal to stop it from starting? would that be enough of a deterrent these days?

I carry a zero deductible and I pray the thief totals it.

I was victimized by USAA when my Dodge Challenger Hellcat was stolen in Memphis.

yup, after seeing that you don't need to press the brake pedal, if you do a remote start, I will pull the ignition and do the kill switch. i also pulled the OBD port and hid it up in the wiring harness. covered the VIN. I plan to put a dummy port in the OBD spot so they don't go looking for it. I had the TAG system installed as the insurance around here pays for half and it reduces the insurance quite a bit also.

Also, you being a country man with land around your new place, and utilitarian equipment as theft deterrent and/or theft elimination... I wouldn't venture onto your property with the notion of breaking in and/or attempting to steal from ya, Brother ;)

By installing the JW2, will that throw codes when used? The reason I ask, if I disconnect electrical connections, e.g., throttle pedal to install Pedal Monster, without disconnecting the battery first, DTCs will appear.

Nope, no codes ever.

The JW2 No splice kill switch harness interrupts the 5 VDC to the start/stop button.

The button assembly must be energized to start or stop the engine.

The state of the bypass switch is irrelevant once the engine is started.

If you can't put the vehicle in a controllable area with a Doberman or Pit Bull

SLOW the thief down

Take the Battery out of your Spare FOB
Use a Faraday device for your Every Day FOB

RFID Box for Car Keys, Key Fob Protector, Signal Blocker for Keyless Fob, Signal Blocking Box

When you park your vehicle to enter a store, use the Manual Door Lock , do not use your FOB.
When you park the vehicle in your driveway, disable the Remote Start by Remote Starting your vehicle twice.
Use a Steering Wheel device, similar to The CLUB, not the one with the Brake Pedal add on

Remember, you are only slowing them down
Getting in your vehicles is easy, just watch a Tow Truck Driver or Locksmith
