Pretty straight forward question. What’s the majority preference of serpentine belt that you can pickup at local stores(NAPA, advanced auto, etc...)?

So there’s no noticeable difference in the varying grades of belts?

There is a lot of variable grades, if your preemptive on change, Gates or Goodyear, NAPA IS Gates, avoid no name belts or belts with an inch of dust from being on the shelf.

But if your on the side of the road, any belt is the best belt.

Gates has different grade belts also, do you live in tepid climate, the SF Bay Area, or an extreme? Sahara Desert compared to Arctic Circle?

My choice is the best I can afford.

There are today, brand quality differences in belts. When we think about what a serpentine belt does and the stress that it takes, a quality choice makes sense. I have been using the Gates belt. Groove lands and width quality is good. Some of the off brand parts store bargain belts will be worse than the one being replaced. My diesel friends swear by the green Gater Backs.

I put a napa store brand on wife's 04 grand Cherokee, ran it 70000 miles with out issue. I also kept the the belt I changed in one of her cubbies, it was worn but in an emergency, it would get her home if I ever had to do a roadside change.
