That's something a mechanic with halfway decent wiring skills could repair. It would just take a little more work than unbolting the old stuff and bolting in a new one. It's just wiring and a connector. Sure, maybe you can't buy a new pigtail anymore but I don't understand why the wiring couldn't be fixed, even if you have to bypass the connector?
