HI Guys,
Was on my way out yesterday. Started truck and this message popped up " Service Electronic Stability Control". First time seeing this message.
I thought now what. Put it in drive and pulled out...the truck was now stuck in 1st gear. It would not shift out of 1st. Pulled over shut it down. Started up again with the same results. I noticed that the yellow light by the 2WD was not illuminated.
Tried switching to 4WD but nothing happened. It would not switch to any of the drive modes.
Only have 6K + on the odometer. Has anyone experienced this. Brand new truck. Just a big disappointment.

Oh man.. That would tick anyone off! Any change with it today? I assume you have D and reverse only? Kind of weird it won't advance past 1st. Limp mode usually makes them stick in 2nd. Maybe not on the 8spd though. Keep us posted.

In a situation like this I would record a video of the trucking doing its thing. Call the dealer and explain the issue. Then have them send a wrecker to pick it up. Don't attempt to fix it yourself by doing little tips and tricks from the forum. Have it towed in this condition so the dealer can see what is happening as soon as it comes off of the hook.

I wish I could have told this to all of my customers over the years. It would have made diagnostics so much easier when I could see what the vehicle is doing.

Hi Guys,
I laid under the truck to see if there was anything out of place. All plugs and cables around transmission and to each wheel was tight and in place.
Started up truck and the screen with the error message was gone. It now displayed no stored messages. The 2WD light was also illuminated. Yesterday it was not.
I took it her around the block and it shifted normally like any other day. I am relieved and baffled as to what happened. When everything was said and done some system failed causing the
transmission to be locked in 1st. I will call the dealer and see what they say. Might call FCA and file a report as well.
Thank you guys for your input.

I had a truck do this on the test drive. They fixed it claiming it was a low battery.

Hello OrionR5,
We are certainly sorry to hear about your recent concern. Have you brought this attention to your servicing dealer? Please follow up with us privately if you decide to go this route as we would be happy to escalate your case to a Specialist to add an additional layer of assistance throughout that process.

magic280z,
A low battery was not a bad fix. My truck fires up when pushing the start button. Curious what constitutes a low battery. One that is below 12v , which will not have enough energy to start an engine.

Got my truck back from the dealer. The fix was described as water intrusion at transfer case connector. Water intrusion @ D6648A connector creating symptoms.
Cleaned connector and added dielectric grease. So far its normal and truck is driving like it should.

Following this. Got this same message on my 2020 after I had a cap/topper installed. Intermittently I get the code/message "Service Electronic Stability Control" then I get a message that says "Auto Park Disabled", and when these codes/messages are on my cruise control is disabled. It goes on and off.

From my research, it can be caused by short circuits in the electrical system, and I am guessing they shorted something out when they installed the cap. I have an appointment to have the cap shop look at the wiring again, will keep you guys posted.

They probably used wire taps into the tail light wiring to hook up the 3rd brake light. Seems like you spend $2500 on a canopy they should wire it nicer.

Yup, except this one was $3,500. And has a bunch of problems with it that are directly Leer's fault on the manufacturing end. Not happy with them.

Yes those wire taps are the worst. Most are not sealed so moisture gets in corroding the connection and they usually cut a few strands of the wire. This weakens the wire and degrades its current carrying ability. IMHO shops that use those to do wiring are not being professional and doing their customers a disservice.

The other manufacturers are not much better. I had a SnugTop on my Tacoma and the quality was not great and the wiring sucked. I’m using a soft bed cover right now because I didn’t want to spend that much for a canopy again.
