You think hot shotting is any more severe than pulling a 35,000 pound 5th wheel, year round? You sayin' that FCA won't honor a warranty if the truck has pulled a 5th wheel?
A 35,000 lb fifth wheel?? If you're pulling a 35k 5ver with this truck then the warranty would be denied instantly. :) These trucks aren't rated for anything near that.

No pickup-based truck (2500 to 5500) is designed for towing 35k lbs "year-round." I'm not sure any are designed for towing that much weight at all.

Hotshot drivers tow all day every day, with varying load from deadhead to 25k lbs or so. That's the worst thing any truck discussed on this forum is designed to handle and still deliver a decent service life. They are all light duty trucks (5500 cummins included) and designed for intermittent loading. If you need to tow 35,000 lbs all day every day, you need a different class of truck than we talk about here. That's medium duty truck work.

When it comes to warranty, you aren't going to nuke a cummins powered truck towing within its ratings prematurely, but don't expect it to live much past warranty if you work it THAT hard.

Huh?? No, the Cummins HO rated at 1000-1075 lb ft are rated to tow 35K. Where have you been? Didn't you know?

I only see that a 3500 DRW with 4.10 gearing and the max payload/trailer option is rated to tow a trailer up to 25,890 with a GCWR of 33,000 lbs. That's gooseneck territory, not fifth wheel. I don't believe I've seen a fifth wheel that weighs that much. Not even a DRV.

The only Ram that I am aware of rated to tow a 35k trailer is a 5500, regular cab, DRW, 4x2 with 4.89 gearing. That's a far cry from 3500 territory, and a unicorn at that.

Ran several Ram 3500 under single state registration hauling oil field equipment from Texas to Calgary and as far east as Pennsylvania.
Not being under a single state registration a driver would have to buy trip permits per states traveled.
Never had a warranty claim denied.
I was registered for 36,000 GCVWR. Went over that a few times. Never denied a warranty claim.

36000 GCWR, not 36k trailer weight, right?

Correct. 36k combined.
A 36k lb trailer would be a little heavy.
That would be approximately 44k gross combined. Although the heaviest I’ve totes was 42k. From Dilley Tx to Lafayette LA. Weighed the truck in Beaumont at the Flying J. Luckily all the chicken coops were closed.
