Shell Gas worth it ?

Closest Shell station is 20 mins away and is usually at least $0.15-.20 more expensive.

Still worth it to fill up?

Also have a near by BP and Valero (older stations)

We have busier non branded fuels (wawa and royal farms)

Any advice ? Run 89 with No tuner - all stock for now.

I was always told it was the same fuel with different detergents. Only better stations are ones that are Ethanol free and the busy stations. Slow stations have older gas. Though you don't want to go RIGHT after they filled up their tanks wait a couple hours..

This is exactly correct....it's a fact. But, those additives to the base stock can be a big deal of a difference between discount stations and those "top tier" stations.

This list is a rating that gas companies pay to get on. It kind of reminds me of how the Better Business Bureau rating actually works....kind of biased. Just because a gas company isn't on the "top tier" list doesn't mean it isn't top tier quality gas.

Hemifever suggested I go to BP, as there was some gas quality in the logs I sent him. Two tanks of BP later and I am good to go.
The BPs near me are not kept up at all, but the fuel is apparently awesome.

I was filling at a Sunoco and I have seen the Sunoco tanker filling the tanks there, but the gas gave my 08 charger .....go figure, it must be the tanks?

the top tier lists have every major brand listed also quick trip but not race track, my family ran a station for 40 years, back then not sure if today but all gas came from the refineries the same then went to different brand holding centers that mixed in the additives they sold, we owned a shell, Texaco and Amoco over the 40 years, Amoco premium was considered the best gas money could buy, also called white gas cause all others were colored, then BP bought them and now you can buy that same premium gas at Texaco or BP, I used quick trip 89 but my ram runs better on shell 89, have only run premium once cause I went to sams club and after getting all ready to pump noticed they only sell 87 regular or 93 premium so I ran a tank didn't see any diff over shell 89 so back to it.

Hemifever told me Shell and BP showed the best quality in data logging he reviews for all his tunes.

I have filled up at Shell and 92 Octane is the V-power premium in Oregon.

I have no knowledge here...But am pretty interested. Will check out the two links provided on the first page. But really it prob doesn't matter is what I am hearing.

I've had great results with Shell, Exxon, and Texaco 93 Octane. I usually run Exxon simply because there is a station right outside my neighborhood. We dont have any BP or Sunoco stations around here, so I've never tried them. Just stay away from grocery store gas, and you should be fine.

My neighbor works for Shell, and he said that they send their trash to grocery store gas stations. This was before he knew that I race, but he warned me years ago to never buy gas from any grocery store.

So basically stay away from non branded gas if possible. My choices are two non branded and BP. Again the BP is an older station and the two non branded just got their tanks redone.

I guess I will run a tank with BP and run a tank with Shell and see how they do.

I fill up at shell, exxon, texaco, murphys, and racetrac. I think i had racetrac in it for the 12.64 run.
