Hello all I’ve recently been looking into getting shorty headers and a y pipe for my 12 hemi the only thing I have done to it is a flowmaster super 10 exhaust I just want to know what shorty headers and y pipe will pair up together With the exhaust And what would be the best ones to get I don’t care how loud it is and also I have to keep cats on the new y pipe because I live in New York

Is that just a custom shorty and y pipe welded together if so how’s the install on that or did you have a shop do it because I was also looking at shorties because I figured there easier to install over long tubes but i thought there was y pipes that fit shorties

Shorties are usually nasty things to install, long tubes are a piece of cake to install compared to a set of shorties, lol

I must’ve been misinformed my bad thank you! But if I where to get longtubes how would they fit up to the truck don’t they go past the y pipe I’m not familiar with longtubes also would you guys recommend heat wrapping them or would that just not be worth it and make it harder for install

Actually decided I am gonna run shorties because I daily my truck and I don’t really go into the high end and it would benefit me more if I got shorties because I’m always in the low end so I wouldn’t really need longtubes

I don't want to say much, but you're mis-informed about shorties again, lol. Long tubes generate more bottom end torque then shorties do.The longer primary pipes on long tubes creates more torque then the shorter primary tubes of shorties do.If you want daily driver tire spinning torque long tubes are going to be the headers you want, just stick with 1 3/4 primaries, don't spring for long tubes that are 1 7/8's.

20mpg???? Must be a typo.
No sir 20 mpg! I average between 9-12l per 100km (Canadian here) and that converted is 20-26mpg. Im running 392 gears and the 8 speed trans with 12 ply 33inch mud tires most of my driving is highway driving as I live 45mins from anything.

Let us know if we can help. We have some options either way you go.

We highly recommend American Racing Headers for best fitment and quality, as well as performance. Other notable good options are Stainless Works, Kooks, and AFE.

Message me to discuss options and pricing

An Imperial gallon is .86 of a Canadian gallon.
20mpg X .86 = 17.2mpg. That is, if he is using Canadian gallons. But he's converting liters.... so who knows?!

I figure the lie-o-meter on the dash is calibrated to Canadian gallons.

I have Shortys. The thing about Shortys is they are relatively inexpensive. They work well with a stock exhaust. I've heard claims that they make a little more power. But you'd have to do a before and after dyno pull to be sure. I'm just not into racing or big power or any of that. It's just a truck. I'll never have a manifold leak, tho.

An Imperial gallon and Canadian gallon are the same, the US gallon is the small gallon at 3.78 litres. The Canadian trucks are calibrated to the US gallon ,not the Imperial gallon

I take whatever number the dash says about my MPG multiply it by .9, and I get pretty close to the correct reading. That's where my theory that it was calibrated to the slightly larger Can gallon. If it's not, oh well.

My Wrangler is often right on the money.

I’m just here for the 6000lb vehicle gas mileage bragging rights.

Just say no to shorty headers, the only bolt-on option that will give you a little top end gain over the OEM manifolds are Kooks. They are in Longtube price range however, and LTs with restrictive y-pipe replacement will net big power and/or efficiency improvements depending on tune/octane.
