Looking at purchasing a used 2020 ram 1500 sport from a Ram dealer and was just wondering what some things I should look for when inspecting it myself.

I did notice on one of my visits that there was some frost build up or small flakes around the drivers door jam inside the vehicle which I thought was weird. (I’m in Canada, yes it’s very cold)

Other than that everything looks immaculate. 80,000kms on the dash and it’s basically my dream truck.

I’ll attach the list of warranty/ recall work completed to date as I was able to obtain that.

Other than the manifold being done already, should I be worried about any of these things being an issue in the future ? Also should I buy the extended warranty. (There’s 8 months left on factory Powertrain/corrosion warranty

Looks like it's been in several times for the drivers door seal, see if they'll let you take it to a body shop and have that side of the cab and door inspected by a body shop,as that'd raise some red flags for me

Ok thanks for the info. So your saying because it’s been multiple times maybe there’s a gap in the door / frame and not the weather striping.

Somethings up with that side of the cab and door,as it looks like it's been in 3 times for the same weatherstrip issue, maybe a door adjustment is all it needs, but i'd of thought if it was that easy, they'd have fixed it on the 1st or 2nd or 3rd time it was in,but if you're seeing frost on the inside of that door jamb,it apparently still has an issue with door sealing

A word of advice, don't believe anything a salesman tells you,he'll tell you anything to get you to buy the truck.See if they'll let you take it to your own mechanic for an inspection, and he's the guy to ask about the issue.

I've always used a strip of paper to check door seals when aligning doors. Claose the door and do a pull test. Obviously the width of it will come into play as a wider strip may cause one to miss a small leak but a really narrow one will take some time. There are likely other methods. might check with a good body shop. Speaking of has it been in any accidents?

Carfax doesn’t catch all the wrecks. Open each door and run your hand up and down all around the jambs. On the painted surface of the doors as well. They should all be equally smooth. Any roughness is paint overspray from a repair that hasn’t been disclosed.

Have you test drove and listened for wind noise?

Yes but I went on the highway mainly and it was super windy that day. Couldn’t tell. I will take it out again now that I know About the weatherstripping and possible gap in the doors

Wow, that's a whole lot of interesting things done to the truck in such a short amount of miles. That could be the end of the issues, or it could be a pause in an even longer list of issues. If you must have this truck, absolutely purchase an extended warranty/service plan. DO NOT purchase it from the dealer. There are other places to get cheaper factory backed service plans.

ya, it seems like most of these rams I look at have a similar list of items warrantied. I’m glad most of what is listed was a while back, but like you said these issues may present themselves again which is what I’m worried about. Thanks for the info!
